Cancer and Lingzhi Some Japanese Research

We need to make you aware that this research is just that - research.Lingzhi is not an accepted cure or treatment for Cancer, nor is it universally

accepted as a preventative for any Cancer in Traditional Chinese or WesternMedicine.

The prestigious Japanese doctor, Dr Fukumi Morishige, M.D., Ph.D.,was involved in the research of Lingzhi's role in cancer control at the

Linus Pauling Institute in Japan. It is a large text file and may takesome time to download depending on the speed of your connection.

The following is the text of a speech the doctor gave and case reports given on hisexperience using Lingzhi. Please note that the Japanese common word for Lingzhi is

Reishi. The name has been changed in this article to provide consistency with otherinformation on our site. The speech has been corrected for grammatical purposes to

    resolve problems in translation.

TCM Alternative offers four Lingzhi products. Two types of Lingzhi Capsules -Standard Grade Lingzhi Capsule and Premier Grade Lingzhi Capsules. Our third

product is a tea like Lingzhi Herbal Infusion. Finally, and most highly recommendedwe offer Lingzhi and Royal Jelly Liquid Tonic from the renowned Beijing Company in

    the PRC.

"I have been a surgeon for 37 years and have performed numerous operations. I

have a keen interest in surgery especially when I was young, but gradually as Ibecame more experienced questions began to appear. I always felt that the ideal

would be to induce the natural immunity power within oneself.

    "Being a surgeon, I have had countless occasions to encounter cancer cases;

however, the key to cancer treatment is in its early detection. That is easier saidthan done. (Detecting cancer in the early, more treatable stages is preferable) about

one in a hundred would be considered a good percentage.

"Nowadays, regular physical check-ups is the trend and

this is good practice. But we have to realize that onecannot let our guard down just because cancer was not

detected at the time a of check-up. People often suspectphysicians of misdiagnosing when a cancer is detected at

a later date. This notion is incorrect. There are manycases that can remain undetected even with monthly check-ups.

"It is better to employ preventive measures in the case of cancer but, there is noestablished method. One can always use dietary control, but here again there is not

an accepted and prescribed regime. The best method at the present is Lingzhi. I didnot know of its amazing effects until after I had used it, and I am truly surprised.

During my practice, I have obtained outstanding results using Lingzhi both as a

preventive measure, and during the course of treatment.

"I had come across patients and their relatives praising the merits of Lingzhi. Butbeing a medical person, I had thought that it might have a slight effect on certain

chronic diseases, but with cancer, surely, its properties must have been greatlyexaggerated.

" In June of 1986, a 39-year-old female came to me with lung cancer and

complications of the chest wall membrane. She had been told that she could not beoperated on by a number ofhospitals. She left in a hopeless state. Upon returning

home, her husband started to feed her Lingzhi. After my examination, I wassurprised by the findings after six months, she had edema in the chest cavity, secondary to cancer, and now the symptom had completely disappeared. For a

person who had already made her funeral arrangements and was waiting for death torediscover there is hope for life, was incredible. X-rays had presented an even better

picture when going through her medical history. She insisted that her improvementwas the result of her husband giving her Lingzhi.

Many studies have concluded and confirmed the fact that cancer patients aregenerally more susceptible to contracting other diseases due to their lowered body

    resistance.

However, after being treated with Lingzhi, complications due to such inflections aregreatly diminished. I have assigned random cancer patients to administer Lingzhiessence with a control group of patients with other illness, e.g. arthritic rheumatism,

chronic bronchitis, hepatitis etc., that is, people with lowered body resistance to

    diseases.

Immunogloburin test determined the level of immunity. We have found that afterusing Lingzhi, the level of IgA, IgG, IgM increased. This indicates that Lingzhi can

elevate the body's resistance to other diseases.

    Is Lingzhi Effective Against Cancer?

"Before I give case examples, I would like to explain why I believe Lingzhi is soeffective in the treatment of cancer. The reason is not fully understood at the present

time and when it is I believe we would have found a successful weapon againstcancer. Employing all the latest medical technology, it is found that the

polysacchrides in Lingzhi are effective in suppressing cancerous cells. Japanesescientists are the first in making this discovery. Perhaps this had something to do

with the fact that the Japan employs herbal medicine in treatment of diseases andconducts vigorous researches into polysaccharides.

Are the Polysacchrides Effective Against Cancer?

"Polysacchrides are made up of a high number of molecular components, millions of

atoms, and this makes it difficult to be absorbed into the human body system. Inorder to make it easily assimilated, its size has to be lowered and using Vitamin C

with Lingzhi helps the polysacchrides are convert into oligoglucan that has a lowmolecular count and can be more easily absorbed. It in turns stimulates the

macrophage that triggers the immune system in the body. Macre means big. Thistype of cell can devour foreign organisms. They are not active when the body is

functioning normally, but in the presence of foreign organisms (e.g. bacteria), theybecome very active in attacking foreign matters.

How does -amyloid relate to Alzheimers?Alzheimers disease is a progressiveneurodegenerative disease and the most common cause of dementia in the elderly.

The neuropathology of Alzheimers is characterized at first by the deposition ofextracellular amyloid plaques and intraneuronal neurofibrillary tangles in the brain,

and later by the loss of neurons and their processes.

Alzheimers disease is expressed by excessive deposition of the -amyloid peptide(-AP) in the centralnervous system. Cognitive impairment appears to be mostclosely correlated in time with the loss of neurons and neuronal processes.

A correlation between lower synapse density and greater proximity to -amyloidplaques was found in aJan 2007 study.

One studysaid that antibodies against -Amyloid can slow cognitive decline inAlzheimers disease. -amyloid is a major histopathological hallmark of Alzheimers

disease (National Institute on Aging 1997). It is associated with age-relatedcognitive decline, neurotoxicity, and the formation of neurofibrillary tangles.

In this study, the Hong Kong researchers reported that aqueous extract of lingzhisignificantly attenuated A-induced synaptotoxicity by preserving the synapticdensity protein, synaptophysin.

What is synaptophysin?Synaptophysin is a synaptic vesicle glycoprotein with four

transmembrane domains. It is present in neuroendocrine cells and in virtually allneurons in the brain andspinal cordthat participate in synaptic transmission. It acts

as a marker for neuroendocrine tumours.

aken together, the results prove a hypothesis that anti-aging lingzhi can prevent

harmful effects of the exterminating toxin A in Alzheimers disease.

As a side note, an earlier research done by the same group ofresearchers at HKU found that anther anti-aging Chinese medicinegou qi (, Lycium barbarum) could also worked against -amyloid

    peptide neurotoxicity in Alzheimers disease.

This group of researchers seem to believe that studies on anti-agingherbal medicines like lingzhi and gou qi may open a new therapeutic

window for the prevention of Alzheimers disease.
