Master of Mathematics for Teachers

The Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo offers a Master of Mathematics for Teachers (MMT) through the CEMC. The MMT is a professional degree offered on a part-time basis over two to five years. It consists of 8 half-credit online courses plus a project-based cap-stone course.

The intended audience is participants who are teaching at secondary school and have been away from formal education for several years at the time of enrollment.

A list of currently approved courses, admission criteria and frequently asked questions are avail-able online at cemc.uwaterloo.ca.

Teacher Conferences

Each August, the CEMC offers conferences for mathematics and computer studies teachers at the University of Waterloo. These conferences are wonderful opportunities for teachers to net-work with other teachers, learn new skills, brainstorm, and focus on problem solving.

The conference for math teachers is for teachers of grades 7 to 12 mathematics and would benefit teachers from any province in Canada. The stream for grades 9 to 12 is based on academic and university preparation courses, and is geared more specifically to teachers from Ontario.

The conference for computer studies teachers is aimed at all high school computer studies educators.
