ABOUT CHRISTCHRIST (Deemed to be University) was born out of the educational vision of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara, an educationalist and social reformer of the nineteenth century in South India. On July 2008, under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, Ministry of Human Resources Development of the Union Government of India declared Christ College as a Deemed to be University. In the month of December 2016, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accredited Christ University with an ‘A’ grade. GOODS AND SERVICES TAXOn 1st July 2017, India’s dream of implementing the largest indirect tax regime became a reality. A single tax replaced numerous existing taxes to eliminate the cascading effect of taxes and removing inter-state borders to make India a common national market. GST has been the most significant tax reform ever since Independence

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME The Faculty Development Programme aims to equip the faculty members across various institutions with comprehensive knowledge on the various aspects of GST in an interactive and innovative forum. The FDP will enable academicians to impart this knowledge to the student community in a lucid manner. The themes covered in this FDP are Levy & Collection of GST, Input tax credit, Registration and Returns. Experts from the field will share their thoughts and views on significant provisions of the law, thereby, integrating theory and practice.

ABOUT TCACThe Tax Compliance and Advisory Cell of the Department of Commerce at Christ University, seeks to empower and enable small-scale businesses to become GST-compliant and help them navigate through the challenges that they may face in their journey. The cell has initiated to organise this FDP for the benefit of academicians.

Shri M Vinod Kumar, IRS has served the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Central Excise) for 34 years. He has received The President’s Award for 'Specially Distinguished Record of Service' on the occasion of Republic Day in the year 2009. He is a part of the National Anti-Profiteering Authority and has played an active role in GST law drafting and implementation.
