To reserve recreation space on campus or at Piney Lake, submit a Facility Reservation Request form to The Department of Campus Recreation. Forms are available online at campusrec.uncg.edu. Reservation forms must be submitted at least 14 days in advance for university groups and 1 month in advance for community groups.

The Mission of the Department of Campus Recreation is to provide intentional experiential opportunities for students and the UNCG community that promote healthy behaviors and foster student development.

Member Parking

A valid UNCG ID Card is required to enter recreation facilities, participate in recreation programs, and checkout equipment.

Membership packages starting at $19/month for faculty/staff. Please see our web site for more information on pricing, packages, and membership guidelines.

Members (faculty/staff/alumni and plus 1) may request a FREE parking pass from the Administrative Suite front desk. Designated hours for SRC parking pass in any A/B/C/E permit space or available meter in LOT 9 NORTH:

Bring a family member to the SRC for FREE! Family Recreation runs Friday at 5:00 pm until Sunday closing. Family members are defined as parents, spouse, partner, and their children.

For ages 5-12, Kid’s Night Out is a place where children can learn, play, and explore in a fun and dynamic environment. Parents affiliated with UNCG can enjoy a worry-free evening while their child(ren) participate in sports, arts and crafts, and other fun activities. The Department of Campus Recreation reports to the Division of Student Affairs and is primarily funded through a portion of the student activities fee.

Training Courses (On the Beat / ACE Personal Training)Intramural Sports provides competitive and recreational leagues, tournaments, and special events played for members of the UNCG community. These events include Men’s, Women’s, and CoRec divisions and are open to all skill levels.

RegistrationEach sport/activity has a set registration window. Teams can register on-line during these specific time periods. During the registration process, teams select their desired level of competition and nights of play. The majority of our intramural events are provided free of charge for students and faculty/staff who are SRC Members.

Club Sports are recognized student organizations that provide an opportunity for students to engage in activities at a competitive level. Our clubs include:

If you plan to play intramurals, but are having difficulty finding a team, you can register as a Free Agent. Our goal is to create teams comprised of Free Agents in order to offer more participation opportunities for students. You can register as a Free Agent on-line.

Start a ClubIf you want to start a new club follow these steps:

Our fitness leadership team can offer a special program for your department, residence hall, or organization. To apply, complete the Special Program Request Form found on our web site at least two weeks prior to the event.

Our nationally certified instructors will lead you through a variety of FREE Group Fitness classes that include cardio, strength, and mind/body.

Group Fitness

Designed for beginning runners, a certified running coach from Fleet Feet will guide participants as they prepare for our Homecoming 5K and other local races. Please see the web site for dates, times, and registration information. (SRC membership NOT required)

An employee wellness program designed to encourage UNCG Faculty/Staff to become more active by participating in weekly fitness activities hosted by Campus Recreation, in partnership with and funded by HealthyUNCG. SRC Membership NOT required

Our nationally certified personal trainers provide clients with clear/realistic health and fitness goals, individualized exercise programs, and instruction on proper exercise techniques in a supportive environment. Fitness Assessments measure your current level of fitness and determine areas for improvement. Testing includes blood pressure, body composition, cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility. Package information and registration forms are available online or in-person at our Administrative Suite.

Personal Training / Partner Personal Training / Fitness Assessments

Weight and Lifestyle Management is designed to “jump start” your fitness journey combining group workouts with meaningful educational sessions. Spartan Boot Camp takes your fitness routine to the next level focusing on power, strength, agility, and endurance. These 6-week long programs meet twice a week providing participants with support and accountability. View our web site for more details.

Outdoor Adventure trips travel as far as the Florida Everglades and as near as the Triad. Trips occur on weekdays, weekends, and over breaks, providing many opportunities to get outdoors. Trips are open to students, faculty/staff, SRC Members. Guests are permitted on day trips (limit 1).

The OA Rental and Trip Center has free informational brochures and maps to help you plan your next Outdoor Adventure! Need gear for your next adventure? Rent outdoor gear at a nominal fee. Price list is availble on-line or in-person at the OA Rental and Trip Center. Items include, but are not limited to:

The Edge, UNCG’s own artificial rock climbing wall, reaches up to 40 ft. in height and has many features that replicate real rock, such as cracks, chimneys, overhangs, and more. There are various climbing routes set for all skill levels that provide for fun and challenging climbing options. Use of The Edge is FREE for students and SRC Members.

The Edge - Indoor Climbing Wall

This hands-on clinic covers the proper technique and use of gear to safely belay a climber. After the clinic, pass the test and belay on your own! $5 for the 2-hour clinic, check the OA Google calendar for weekly clinic times.

Climbing shoes and harnesses are free to rent. Personal climbing shoes and harnesses are permitted.

Programming from a philosophy of Experiential Education, we believe the most effective program happens when you are actively engaged in your own learning and team development. We offer a unique hands-on experience enhancing group development by improving leadership, communication, and trust by engaging in creative thinking and effective decision making while enacting support among participants.

Typical programs have our facilitators guiding your group through a series of activities specifically chosen based upon your group’s desired outcomes. These will challenge and engage your team to discover new learning outcomes with the ultimate goal to transfer the knowledge and skills gained to your group’s typical organization or team setting.
