Campus Leaders’ Newsletter 24th April 2020 Warringa Campus Welcome back to Term 2! Remote Learning has gotten off to a great start with most students across Upper and Lower Primary engaging in new learning tasks on Seesaw. Students have been busy adapting to learning from home, continuing to build on their reading, writing and maths skills. Across Lower Primary we have been focussing on reading the pictures and talking about what we can see happening. In Writing, we have been using things from our environment to generate ideas such as our favourite book, toy or activity done over the school holidays. In Maths, students have been participating in counting a range of objects in their homes including pencils, spoons and pillows. During Respectful Relationships, students have been checking in using the States of Regulation and identifying things that make them feel their emotions in each state. Across Upper Primary we have been focussing on reading instructions and identifying key words about washing our hands. In Maths, we have been identifying numbers and counting collections of objects from around our homes. In Respectful Relationships, we have been checking in with each other using our States of Regulation skills by sharing our feelings and identifying what coloured states we are in by collecting items from around the house in the same colour. Although things are looking very different, we are all in this together! #keepwashingthosehands Jess Hay and Joanne Brown

BRC NewsWell hasn’t Term 2 has started a little differently!!

I am incredibly proud of all our students and teachers for the way they have adapted to remote learning. Week 1 was only three days and we had 4,401 likes of student work and 1,110 Seesaw visits by family members when I checked last Friday. A huge thank you to all parents for supporting our students and for beingso understanding as we navigate this new style of teaching and learning.

We have had so many students engage with Seesaw and it was great to see students coding, baking and completing fitness challenges which align to our inquiry of healthy eating, healthy mind. Julie posted some great at home cooking videos that a number of families tested and posted. You can view more at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCR5CE7pY6KiXb4td9PA7fYw

A huge thank you to our ES staff who have also adapted to remote learning by posting challenges

and video messages to students. ES have also been posting feedback on student work which students have been excited about.

Our teachers are constantly learning new ways to engage with students remotely. At the moment we are trailing Loom to help support instruction. We also exploring Stickies to provide feedback and we are learning the best way to use the Seesaw learning community to post extension activities to students.

Again, thank you everyone for your patience, your support and your understanding.

I look forward to more great Seesaw learning and interaction but most importantly I look forward to seeing our students and teachers back on campus sometime soon.

Stay well, stay safe!

CRC NewsHello all of Cayleys Road,

Thank you for logging on! It has been quite a unique start to the Term, to say the least. I would just like to take the opportunity to thank the entire Student and Parent Community for their patience and understanding through this time, and to the Teachers and ES Staff for their tireless efforts to reach out to all of their families. A major focus for me at the moment is the wellbeing of all of the CRC community. Teachers have been working hard to upload work for students to access, but parents please remember to just do your best. We know that times are tough, and keeping everyone in the house safe and as happy as possible is your priority. SeeSaw activities and Teacher check-ins are there for you, but if you are feeling overwhelmed, it is ok if you don’t complete all of the work. I remind you all that your Core Group Teacher is available on whichever agreed platform of communication you use, but I am also here for you too. There will be light at the end of this tunnel, and you are all doing an amazing job!

Stay safe and wash your hands,

Tim Hilton, Assistant Principal, CRC
