Hello Goodbye*

It is hello to Nathan Janes who

takes over as the teacher for

Room 30 today and goodbye (for

the time being) to Serena Storey

who is going on parental leave.

Nathan taught at CBS last year

and is a familiar (and welcome)

face around the school. We will

let you know when Serena has

her good news to share!

(*Thanks to the Beatles, 1967,

for this heading).

After School Arrangements

A SAFETY REMINDER

When children are dismissed from school at 3.00pm the expectation is that

parents/caregivers have made arrangements for the care of children, as the

school’s responsibility ceases at 3.00 pm unless an arrangement has been

made with a parent with the school about their child. This is usually confined to

the parent being late because of a traffic hold up on their way to collect their

child.

OPTIONS FOR CHILDREN AT 3.00 PM

Line up in the bus bay for the 042 bus

Go to SKIDs or another after school care provider

Wait on the shell area near the bus bay for their parents/caregivers

Go home

It is not an option for children to wait in the school grounds for

parents/caregivers to meet with them at a time after 3.00pm as the school does

not provide supervision and it is unsafe for children to be unsupervised.

Children may only remain in the school grounds after 3.00pm if they are the

direct supervision of their parent(s) or a caregiver.

There are times when a parent/caregiver will be unavoidably delayed. When

this happens please contact the office as soon as practicable so we can make

arrangements to care for your child.

Community Forest

Weeding this week

Parents are invited to help

classes in the forest this

Wednesday and Thursday.

Please come prepared with

wet weather footwear and a

change of clothing in case of

slipping over! Gloves are

always handy and a large

plastic bag for weeds.

Children please bring the

same.

See you at the following

times. Check in with your

teachers.

RUGBY

Due to the grounds closure last week the Primary Schools’ Rugby Tournament Round 3 (final day) at Windsor Park will

now be held tomorrow (Tuesday 11 August). Please remember sports uniform, water, food, wet weather gear and warm

clothing. Children need to be at school by 8.40 am please. If the tournament day is cancelled due to bad weather,

a message will be posted on the front sports page of the school website and on our school sports Facebook page.

A reviseddraw for Tuesday’s games is available to download from our school website under “Sports” and under “Rugby”.

As this is a school day and is very much a school activity school rules apply; therefore no sweets are to be purchased or

brought to the venue to be consumed. We seek your cooperation regarding the ‘no purchasing and no consuming of

sweets’ rule. Thank you.

TOUCH RUGBY

Registrations for Touch Rugby in Term 4 are now open. There are two options for registering: (1) as a team (as arranged

by parents/children) or (2) as an individual (to be placed into a team by the school). A team coach and manager will be

needed for every team. Registrations will be closing on Friday 21 August. Please download the information letter from

the school google website under “Sports” and under “Touch Rugby” if you require extra information.

CRICKET

If anyone interested in coaching and taking a Yr 3/4 and/or Yr 5/6 girls team to the Girls Quikhit Tournament

on Monday 14th September at North Harbour Hockey Turf please contact the Sports Coordinator.

Any queries please contact Nicola Livingston (CBS Sports Coordinator) at [email protected]

SOCCER

Two experienced soccer coaches will be visiting the school this Friday (14 August) and have offered to take our Year 5

children for a free lunchtime soccer session. If your Year 5 child is interested in attending please make sure they register

their name with Mrs Livingston before Friday.

Vanessa Burmeister (at CBS) is a current member of North Harbour Synchro

(a beginner).

North Harbour Synchro offers 2 free trial sessions for any Boys (yes!) and

girls who would like to give it a try. It’s brilliant training for all round aquatic

skills and if kids like dance, gymnastics and being in the water, they should

come along for a trial!

Amber Fraser-Mackenzie (was at CBS last year, now at Murrays in year 7) is

in the Under 12 age group. She’s headed to Perth for a Commonwealth

Festival of Synchro in early September where her team will compete against

under 12 teams from 10 other Commonwealth countries. This is bound to be

an amazing experience for all the swimmers from our club -the only NZ team

attending this competition - go North Harbour!
