STAMFORD FAMILY YMCA
CAMP WOW - UPPER CAMP
SUMMER CAMP 2011
CAMP WOW - UPPER CAMP
WHAT IS CAMP WOW - UPPER CAMP?
Camp WOW - Upper Camp provides teens a special opportunity to make friends in a relaxed and fun-filled environment, to build self-esteem and independence and to challenge themselves with new physical and creative activities.
www.stamfordymca.org
The Stamford Family YMCA Camp WOW has an all new upper camp experience for teens and pre-teens. Our upper camp is about fun, connection, self-awareness, self-expression and adventure. Here, teens and pre-teens ages 12 - 15 will develop essential skills for leadership via physical and mental challenges. Such challenges include outdoor activities like canoeing, rock climbing, hiking, and a challenging ropes course. Campers will participate in traditional camp activities such as swimming, athletics, dance, kareoke, arts & crafts, and much more. Camp begins at 9:00 am and pick up is at 4:00 pm.
Our upper camp will spend July 21 - July 30 at LAVIDA in the Adirondack Mountain Region of New York. Here our campers will have the opportunity to hike, rock climb, canoe and camp out in the wilderness. Only campers signed up for the full summer or the third session will attend LAVIDA.
WHAT DOES CAMP WOW LOOK LIKE?
The Camp WOW day consists of six periods, each forty-five minutes long. Every day groups swim twice, have athletics and enjoy other activities. Every activity is planned and instructed by specialists.
OUR ACTIVITIES
During the summer, campers are taught skills including: swimming, athletics, dance & drama, music, arts & crafts, nature study, ropes & mats, courts, and much more!
In addition to the daily program, weekly field trips and special events, such as Lake Compounce and LAVIDA, are planned to add fun and camp spirit to the daily routine.
WHAT ARE CAMP WOW’S GOALS?
Camp WOW is a great experience that helps develop independence and proper decision making skills, boosts self-confidence and allows children and teens to learn about themselves while engaging in activities not found in their typical school day. Every camper is encouraged to develop new skills and to grow mentally, emotionally, socially andphysically.
