Camp Quality Puppet Show and Fundraiser Thank you to everyone who supported the Camp Quality Puppet Show and Fundraiser yesterday. Students and staff had fun wearing their casual clothes and funky hair to school and in doing so raised over $300 for Camp Quality. The Camp Quality Puppet show had everyone in stitches.

Office Procedures Students arriving at school after the school bell need to present to the office, where they will receive a late note to present to their teacher when they arrive at class. The school gates will be opened at 8.30am and closed by 9.30am. The gates will be reopened at 2.45pm. If parents need to access the school during school hours the front gate will be closed but unlocked. All visitors to school must present at the office and the office will call for the student to collect their belongings and come to the office to be collected. There are to be no parents, carers or community members visiting classes during school hours unless pre-arranged with the school. These processes are in place to minimise student interruptions and to ensure the safety of all students at all times. Swimming Carnival The Swimming carnival is on this Monday 17th February 2020. If you do not have access to a computer the office will be happy to assist you with booking your interview online.   Skoolbag Phone App Our school has the Skoolbag iPhone and Android App to help us communicate more effectively with our community. By installing the app you will be able to receive the school newsletter, notes sent home and notices. Parents and carers are also able to submit student absences. We are asking all parents to install our Skoolbag School App. To install it, just search for our school name “Garden Suburb Public School” in either the Apple App Store, or Google Play Store.   Facebook The school has a Facebook Page where you can find information about what is happening each week, student successes and community information. Our page is an information sharing page, not a space for community members to ask questions, they simply will not be answered. If you have any questions please always contact the office.   P&C Our first P&C meeting will be held on Monday 17th February. We welcome all members of the school community to attend our P&C Meetings. Becoming a financial member costs $2 and this can be done at any of our meetings or by completing a form and leaving it in the P&C box in the office foyer. Once your $2 and application forms are received you will be able to vote at the

following meeting. You can find the information on the ‘Parents and Citizens Association’ tab on our school website. The P&C would like to remind the community that if you have put an agenda item on the agenda to be discussed you will need to come and lead that discussion. If you are not present at the meeting the item will not be addressed and you will need to add it next time you are available to attend a meeting.   Online Payment and P&C Funds Reminder Any payments to the P&C eg. Uniforms, Father’s Day gifts, must be paid in cash or cheque to the P&C. Please do not use on-line payments, if you do the amount will be refunded to you and then you must send cash or cheque to the P&C. 2020 School Banking Students are to bring their bank books in on Thursday. They will be collected and taken for processing, bank books will be returned once completed on Friday.

ASCIA and Health Care Updates It is a requirement of the Department of Education that all ASCIA Action Plans and Asthma Plans are updated each year. Please be aware when requesting an update from your doctor that you request they utilise the 30th January, 2020 version of the ASCIA Action Plan. Once these updates have been received at the office, we will update our documents and send home with relevant students for review and signature. If your child’s health has changed in any way please contact the office to inform staff. We are unable to mark any students as not having Asthma without a Doctor’s certificate certifying the student has outgrown the condition.

Learning and Support Team (LST) News Personalised Learning and Support plans (PLSPs) are underpinned by evidence of the following four key elements:

the assessed individual education needs of the student the provision of adjustments or support to meet the student's assessed needs monitoring and review of the impact of the adjustments or support being provided for the

student consultation and collaboration – of teachers with parents, support staff and other

professionals where required. The LST and class teachers would like to meet with parents, carers and relevant professionals for identified students to develop the best possible program for the students. These meetings will be held in Week 5 and 6 (24-26 Feb, 2-4 March). At these meetings parents and teachers discuss the child's program, set priorities, determine the program outcomes to target for the next six months, and decide how best to work together with the student to achieve these goals. Further information about these meetings will be sent home with selected students this week. These students have been identified by the LST as per DOE policy/guidelines. “What’s in My Head” Digital Artwork Astronauts

Welcome Kindergarten Last Monday we welcomed our new Kindergarten students to our school community as they commenced their very first day of school. We are super proud of all of our students who have settled in beautifully. A special thank you to our Year 5 and 6 buddies for the care and attention they have provided to our kindy students. Mrs Fletcher, Mrs Lyden and Ms Pitts have reported that students are already learning the routines and expectations of school. Well done Kindy! o assist your child/ren with the morning assembly under the COLA, we kindly ask that you drop them off before the morning bell and leave promptly to ensure they are ready to line up and listen to the morning messages. Thank you for your understanding. Mrs Pitts
