Block ConstructionAll seam allowances are 1/4" and pieces are sewn right sides together.

1. Noting the print direction, make four-patch units using the 35/8" B6721 Multi and 35/8" C5300 Silver squares (figure 1). Press the seams in each row in alternate directions. Match the center seam when joining the rows.

Quilt Top Assembly4. Following the photograph and quilt center assembly

diagram for placement and orientation, lay out eight diagonal rows of alternating blocks. Add C1820 Silver setting triangles to the beginning and the end of the rows. Sew the setting triangles and blocks together in each row, then sew the rows together in order, matching adjacent seams. Press seams in alternate directions for adjacent rows. Sew one C1820 Silver corner triangle to each quilt top corner.

5. For border 1, sew the six 11/2" C5300 Mist border strips together end to end using diagonal seams. Measure the length of the quilt top through the center and cut two border 1 strips that length. Sew one strip to each side of the quilt top. Measure the width of the quilt top through the center. Cut two border 1 strips that length and sew one to the top and the other to the bottom. Press the seams toward the borders.

6. To create border 2, measure the length of the quilt top through the center and cut two C6718 Sky strips that length. Noting the print orientation, sew one strip to each side of the quilt top. Measure the width of the quilt top through the center. From the remaining strips, cut two strips that length and sew one to the top and the other to the bottom. Press the seams toward the borders.

Finishing7. Layer the quilt top, batting and backing, and quilt

as desired.

8. Stitch the binding strips together end to end using diagonal seams. Fold and press the resulting long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together. Stitch to the quilt front, matching raw edges and mitering the corners.

9. Fold the binding to the quilt underside and hand-stitch the folded edge to the quilt back.
