PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Cambridge University Cycling Club, founded in 1874, is one of the oldest, largest and most successful student cycling clubs in the country.

The club produces one of the finest sports teams of the University, having won the annual Varsity Match against Oxford nine times in the last ten years and BUCS (the British University Championships) four times in the last seven years. Former members of CUCC include Olympic Medallist Emma Pooley, and multiple National Champion Hayley Simmonds. The last year has been hugely successful for the club with a large increase in membership to over 100. Most notably there has been more than a three-fold increase in CUCC’s female membership. We dominated the British university racing scene throughout the year, particularly in the British University National Time Trial Championships where we had six men in the top ten, including gold and silver, and two women in the top ten. Recently, we were also voted Best Varsity Match of 2017 by members of the University.

However, beyond our competitive success, the main body of CUCC is very much a large and vibrant social sports club for people who love cycling. We have regular trips to the London Velodrome as well as numerous touring rides throughout the year that range from visiting a local chocolate factory to bike shows in London and even a trip to Belgium to watch some professional racing.

For CUCC to continue improving access to a sport with high barriers to entry, sponsorship is essential. On behalf of Cambridge University Cycling Club, I thank you for taking the time to read this document and considering sponsorship of CUCC.

YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS As a club we rely on the generous support of our sponsors, which enables us to continue to support racing at the highest level and make the sport accessible to all.

Each year we spend around £10,000, the majority of which comes from sponsors. Most of our spending focuses on improving access to the sport by subsidising kit, training and development (e.g. velodrome trips) for members, and purchasing equipment to allow those without their own to get involved in racing. For example, the club now has a small number of track bikes available to members thanks to sponsors’ generosity.

Another significant expenditure is supporting access to top level sport through our travel and entry cover for our BUCS athletes. Entries and transport can run to several hundreds of pounds per athlete.

WHAT CUCC OFFERS As a sponsor you would receive a significant amount of exposure within the University and around Cambridge, as well as access to some of the world’s brightest students.

The club membership is just over 100 strong and has a strong bias towards engineers and scientists, with a good mix of both undergraduates and graduates. It is therefore a rich source of talented, technical and well-rounded Cambridge students.

Sponsorship will expose member to your company. In recent years we have put on recruitment dinners and other events with a particular subject focus for sponsors, allowing you to actively promote working for your company.

As one of the University’s most successful sports teams, we also receive significant exposure in student newspapers, such as The Blue Bird. Furthermore, we host a BUCS event each year, which includes cyclists from universities all over the country and receives coverage in the national cycling press, providing another opportunity to interact with students and to promote your brand.
