IMAGE has seen a highly enthusiastic participation from schools of repute in Delhi & NCR for the past 30years.With a contextually apt theme of ‘Celebrating Life’, the 32 nd edition of IMAGE was held virtually on 3 rd & 4 th December 2020. As a result, this year, IMAGE saw an overwhelming response from 52 schools of Delhi, Greater Noida and Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Gurugram like Air Force Bal Bharti, Lodhi Road, Sommerville, Lotus Valley International School and also made it possible for students to participate from schools like Mayo College, Ajmer. SCHOOL EVENTS

IMAGE 2020 – CELEBRATING LIFE

The chain of Cambridge Schools believes in promoting a culture of excellence; instilling a love for literature,

art and culture and encouraging the spirit of intellectual enquiry and observation amongst students.

Cambridge School Noida has been hosting IMAGE, a highly reputed Literary, Art & Cultural festival of inter-

school competitions, conducted annually since 1989. The idea is to ignite young hearts and minds to shine

socially, creatively and intellectually.

IMAGE has seen a highly enthusiastic participation from schools of repute in Delhi & NCR for the past

30years.With a contextually apt theme of ‘Celebrating Life’, the 32nd edition of IMAGE was held virtually on

3rd & 4th December 2020. As a result, this year, IMAGE saw an overwhelming response from 52 schools of

Delhi, Greater Noida and Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Gurugram like Air Force Bal Bharti, Lodhi

Road, Sommerville, Lotus Valley International School and also made it possible for students to participate

from schools like Mayo College, Ajmer.

Streamed live on Facebook, the Inaugural Function had Padma Vibhushan, the legendary Kathak maestro

Pt. Birju Maharaj as chief guest, while Padma Shri Nila Madhab Panda, Indian film producer & director was

the chief guest for the Valedictory Function. Also present were Dr. Kalyani Roy, Secretary, Society for the

Advancement of Education, along with members of the School Management Committee.

A total of 21 events were held over two days like ‘Kavyanjali’, ‘Flight of Poetic Fantasy’, ‘Once Upon a

Time’, ‘Budding Journalist’, ‘Folk Art’, ‘Doodle Art’, ‘Retro Canvas’, ‘Sanskrit Lok Geet Gayan Pratiyogita’,

‘Nrityanajali’ and ‘Ullas’. Carrying forward the theme of Celebrating Life, the students of Cambridge School

Noida staged ‘Dance of Jubilation’ on Guru Rabindranath’s famous song ‘Hriday Aamar Nachere Aajke’.

The A. C. Deb Memorial Rolling Trophy for IMAGE 2020 was bagged by Vishwa Bharti Public School,

Noida for their brilliant performance.

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL PROGRAMME- DECEMBER 2020

The school students have been actively engaged in exploring different perspectives and global topics and

building intercultural connections with students all over the world via the Generation Global platform. The

following ten students received Certificates of Achievement for their active participation in the online

dialogue platform. Class IX- Harsidak Singh, Maithily Nautiyal, Prakhar Ranjan Sahu, Rithwik Sriram,

Arushi Goel, Kuhu Gupta, Diya Raj Verma Class X- Arjun Sammi, Anjali Chauhan, Vrinda Goel.

On 4th December 2020, from 10:00 pm to 11 pm, students from classes IX to XI interacted with their peers

in the U.S.A via video conferencing. The students participated wholeheartedly in the interaction on Global

Citizenship.

A career counselling session on International Relations was organised for the students, on 8th December

2020. The students had an invigorating discussion with Ms. T Majumdar, an alumna studying International

Relations in a renowned university In New York.

On the occasion of Human Rights Day, a video conference was organised with students in the United

States and Israel, on 10th December 2020, from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Students from classes IX to XI had

thought-provoking discussions on Human Rights and Human Wellbeing. The videoconference was a

great learning experience for the enthusiastic students.

On 3rd December 2020, Ms. Anubha Rawat attended a webinar on Education when the Future is Now-

The Realities from across the World, organised by NIIT University, Rajasthan. The Guest speakers

shared their views on the implications of the pandemic on education.

MATHEMATICS DAY CELEBRATION BY CLASSES VI-VIII

CLASS VI

Mathematics Day was celebrated online at Cambridge School Noida on 28th December 2020. The theme

for Class VI was Fun with Mathematics. The students were given a choice to make a video on any one of

the following:

1. Amazing Magic Tricks with Numbers

2. Create a 3D structure.

The session was conducted by Ms. Preeti Ghai, TGT (Maths). It was attended by all the students of class

VI in the combined channel. The students participated enthusiastically and presented beautiful videos. It

was evident that they had made good use of technology. It was an enriching experience for students as

well as their mentors as it promoted holistic education –indeed a step towards integrated approach.

CLASS VII

Mathematics day was celebrated by class VII students on the combined channel of MS Teams. The

session was conducted by Ms. Sangeeta Das.

Class VII Students were given a choice to do any one of the five given activities:

1. Math-o-Craft: In this activity students created a mathematical shape using the art of origami.

2. Math-Entry: In this activity students recited self-composed poems based on patterns, facts and

properties of Mathematics.

3. This World is a Sphere- Maths is Everywhere: In this activity students presented either a

mathematical property or observation based on their surrounding or nature.

4. A Mathematical Melody: Students presented a short video to showcase the use of maths in

learning music.

5. Data Matters: Students made a presentation using data analysis on different topics like Air

pollution, IPL, Noise pollution, Covid-19 etc.

Ms. Sangeeta Das inspired the students by sharing interesting anecdotes from the great Mathematician S.

Ramanujan’s life. The session was very interesting, and the students got an opportunity to explore

recreational mathematics.

CLASS VIII The session began with an introductory note on Mathematics Day by Mr. Vivek Kumar Singh. Vrinda

Sharma presented her views on the importance of mathematics in our life. Aditya Mittal and Ashmita

Sharma also delivered a short speech on Mathematics day followed by an interactive session. Each section

of class VIII presented a short video on Successive Discount. The entire session was very enriching, and

students really enjoyed it.

CLUB ACTIVITIES: DECEMBER 20

INTERACT CLUB ACTIVITIES

Discussion on Financial Inequality

Economic inequality is usually measured in terms of distribution of income and wealth. Interactors of

Cambridge School Noida had an insightful discussion on this topic with the teacher in-charge Ms. Mamta

Rishi on 1st December 2020.

Animal Feeding Project

Mahatma Gandhi stated that the “Best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” To

help stray animals during this COVID-19 crisis, Interactors of Cambridge School, Noida organised a

project called Animal Feeding Project in which Interactors fed stray dogs with biscuits, milk, bread and

other edible food items on 4thDecember 2020.

Talk on Mental Health

“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself” —

Rumi... We are aware of how we want our face and body to look but do we know how we want our mind

and heart to feel. On 8th December 2020, the members of the Interact Club had a discussion on various

topics like toxic positivity, becoming more resilient after facing adversities, undergoing trauma and state

of mind. This was followed by the students sharing their own experiences.

Webinar on Drug Abuse Awareness

On 15th December 2020, interactors of Cambridge School Noida organised a webinar on ‘Drug Abuse’ to

create awareness among the students. A few interactors took up different topics and presented them in

detail through power point presentations. They discussed how teenage nicotine vaping has taken off so

fast that it has alarmed public health officials. The session ended with students providing solutions like

curbing its supply etc. It was an informative session.

Digital Poster Making Activity ‘SAY NO TO PLASTIC’

Take a moment and look around, you will realise how dependent we are on plastics. It has become an

unavoidable part of our lives in the past three decades or so. With this thought in mind, on 15th December

2020, Interactors of Cambridge School Noida organised a Digital Poster Making Activity- SAY NO TO

PLASTIC in which many students displayed their technical skills by making impressive e-posters.

International Day of Persons with Disability

To celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disability, on 18th December 2020, the Interact Club of

Cambridge School Noida organized a programme Kuch Lamhe Natkhat Bacho Ke Sath for the students

of Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan School which is a charitable school for differently abled children. The

programme included storytelling, dance and music performance by the special need students of MBCN

who participated enthusiastically. It was a very gratifying and enriching experience.

Group Discussion on Anxiety Awareness

Nearly 1 out of 3 adolescents aged between13 and 18 experience anxiety disorder and these numbers

are rising steadily. On 22nd December 2020, Interactors of Cambridge School Noida organised an

interactive session on anxiety and how to cope with it. A few students also shared their own experiences

regarding how they cope with anxiety. They have learned how to ask questions and most importantly,

how to ask for help.

Red Table Talk

Interactors from CSN attended a webinar Red Table Talk hosted by Interact club District 3012 on 26th

December 2020. The guest speaker was Dr. Meenakshi Gupta, who is a senior consultant and

gynaecologist at Fortis Escorts, Faridabad. The purpose of the webinar was to spread awareness about

Menstruation and breaking the stigma.

CLASS IX, X – LITERARY AND DEBATE CLUB

Panel Discussion

The students were informed about the salient features of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The

students discussed the reasons behind the launching of NEP-2020, school level changes, the changes in

the education structure of India and how the new National Education Policy is a step towards freedom in

education.

Art Integrated Activity

The students participated in an interesting Art Integrated activity wherein they visualised a scene from a

famous book and sketched or painted it.

Interaction

The students had an invigorating and informative discussion on International Relations with Ms. T

Majumdar, an alumna studying in a renowned University in New York.

HERITAGE AND QUIZ CLUB

Heritage and Quiz club of class IX & X is working towards sensitizing students about the Heritage of India

and their role in preserving it for posterity. In the month of December two quiz sessions were conducted by

Akshat Mehra of X E and Nischal Pachauri of IX A. Tanmay Mohanty of IXB presented a ppt on the

Forgotten Monuments of Delhi.

The students were encouraged to collect pictures of family functions and present it during the club activity.

Sanchari Mohanti of X D shared some pictures of a function ‘Prathamashtami’ in which a family celebrates

the birth of the first child of the family.

To make children aware about the different forms of folk paintings of India a documentary was shown to

help them understand the ways in which the paintings are made, the materials used, their themes and its

importance. Some very famous paintings of Indian painters were shown to them.

WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS FOR STUDENTS

THEATRE IN EDUCATION: ENVIRONMENTAL CRISIS CALL FOR ACTION

“How is it possible that the most intellectual creature to ever walk the planet Earth is destroying its only

home?” A play on the topic- Environmental Crisis Call for Action was presented by the students of Class

IX on 11th December 2020. Students participated with great enthusiasm and voiced their ideas and

thoughts on various environmental issues and remedial measures to create awareness. Presentation

wrapped poem, documentary, skit, quiz, and speech by eminent personalities. Emphasis was on how

everyone should be responsible for the conservation and protection of their immediate environment. Green

ambassadors were appointed to audit energy resources around them when they return to school. It was an

eye opener and a great learning experience for all. Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.

WORKING FOR THE UNDERSERVED TO HELP INDIA GROW

On 18th December 2020, Cambridge School, Noida organized an online interactive session with Prof.

Hitesh Bhatt, Former Director, IRMA on Working for the Underserved to Help India Grow for the

students of classes VIII, IX and XI (Commerce & Humanities stream). The session commenced with a

melodious Saraswati Vandana by the talented students of the school. The Principal, Ms. Preeti Sangwan,

in her special message emphasized that the pandemic situation has taught us many lessons and the need

to find ways to connect, work and improve the quality of underprivileged section of our society with the sole

aim to rise together. Our esteemed guest, Prof Hitesh Bhatt through his inspiring speech motivated the

students to work for the underserved sections of the society. Prof. Bhatt shared his experience of working

with IRMA and provided insights on the challenges and problems faced by the people in the rural areas,

and how they find simple solutions to overcome their challenging situations. At the end, Prof. Bhatt also

interacted with the students and answered their queries.

ART WORKSHOP A workshop for the students of Class VI was conducted by Mr. Shivraj of the ADM Department on 22nd December 2020. Students were explained the use of waste material (old newspapers) in a meaningful manner to create various items. Students learnt how to utilize old newspapers in an artistic manner and made Christmas trees and Santa Claus using these waste materials.

STORY TELLING

"Stories are like gifts, the more we share - the more we have!!". An interactive Story Telling workshop was

conducted for the students of class VI on 23rd December 2020. The resource person was Ms. Jyoti Pande,

an ardent educationist and a practicing psychologist with an experience of over 20 years in the fields of

teaching and counselling. The session commenced with the resource person narrating an Ubuntu tale

named ‘The Story of a Tree’. The philosophy of Ubuntu tales is to spread happiness; therefore, it aims to

work for a common good. The workshop helped the students to develop their vocabulary, create an interest

in reading and compose stories and poems. The session was followed by an interactive activity wherein,

the students were told to draw any five fruits and were also asked to present them to anyone as per their

choice. Students came up with interesting ideas and participated enthusiastically in the activity. It was an

interesting and enriching workshop keeping in tune with the spirit of Christmas.

PHYSICS SEMINAR: SOLAR RADIATION / SOLAR ENERGY AND SOLAR PANELS

An online seminar was organized by the Physics department on Solar Radiation / Solar Energy and

Solar Panels on 22nd December 2020. The aim of the seminar was to create awareness about the use of

solar panels as an alternative source of energy. The topics included Solar Radiations, Physics of

Semiconductors, working of a Solar Cell, Types of PV system, Commercial aspects, Installation and

Connections of Solar Panels at home and office, Working of Solar Panel, and Benefits/Drawbacks of Solar

Panels. A case study done by students of class XI was also presented. Over 50 participants joined the

event which included the Faculty and students from other schools and the host school. The in charges of

this seminar were Dr. HK Singh, Ms. Nishtha Agarwal and Ms. Nitu Dixit.

QUANTUM COMPUTING IS POISED TO CHANGE OUR LIVES

A session on Quantum Computing is Poised to Change our Lives was conducted on 1st December 2020

through Microsoft Teams. It was attended by the students of Class X to XII along with their subject

teachers, students and teachers from sister schools and the managing committee members. The session

was conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Madan Mohan Pant, Former Pro-Vice-Chancellor IGNOU, Former faculty at

IIT Kanpur, NIT, Allahabad and Visiting Professor to the University of Western Ontario, Canada. It was a

two-hour session in which students actively participated in the discussion with Dr Pant. Around 220

participants attended the session. It was also attended by Dr. Kalyani Roy, Secretary SAE, and the

Principal, Ms. Preeti Sangwan.

On 31st December 2020 a webinar on Organization, Leadership and Faculty Development was

conducted by Dr. Sundar Kumar Gandikota Founder &CEO, School Education and Management Services.

The webinar was attended by Dr. Kalyani Roy, Secretary SAE, Vice Principal, Ms. Nandita Sinha Roy and

all HODs.

Mr. Gandikota emphasized on the need for leaders to be aware of the major Organizational aspects such

as the skeleton, organigram and structure. The departments within it need to be governed by the heads by

being in touch with the information systems and procedures. Faculty development by the departmental

heads by Self-criticality, Self-Appraisal, Self-Governance and Self-Motivation can help in improving the

communication skills, pedagogy assessment and evaluation.

Mr. Gandikota said that enabling or disabling in the way we conduct ourselves as school leaders or

teachers goes a long way in our success. Some interesting questions were asked by some of the HODs, to

which he replied that if practical knowledge of textbook content can be given to students such as asking an

accountant to share the balance sheet for Accountancy, collection of leaves and observing by magnifying

glass in Biology, visiting Heritage monuments in History, etc, we can increase inquisitiveness and

motivation of students.

ACHIEVEMENTS

ROTARY PAN INDIA SKIN DONATION ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION

Interactor Amrita Behura of class XII-A participated and won a cash prize worth Rs.11,000 in the Rotary

PAN India Essay Writing Competition on Skin Donation sponsored collectively by Rotary Club of Mumbai

Borivali East (RID 3141), Rotary Club of Delhi Shahdara (RID 3012) and National Burns Centre in

coordination with R C Cotton City Raichur (RID 3160). With more than 4,000 entries from across the

country, the competition was a successful initiative at spreading awareness about Skin Donation at a

national level and encouraging people to come forward and save lives by pledging to become skin donors.

The Award Ceremony for the same was held online on 19th December 2020 which was graced by the

presence of Past RI Director & TRF Trustee Rtn. Ashok Mahajan along with other dignitaries and Rotarians
