Tools Needed: Phillips screwdriver Awl A simple and inexpensive way to tighten and seal up your Camaro is to replace the weather stripping. This cowl and roof rail weather stripping will give a tight seal that cuts down on wind noise! In part one of our weather stripping tech article, which ran in the September 2012 issue of Chevy Classics, we installed the door and trunk weather stripping. In this second part of the tech article we will install the roof rail and cowl weather stripping. The roof rail weather stripping starts at the front of the door jamb on the body, goes up the A-pillar, across the roof rail above the door and quarter glass, and ends at the rear bottom of the quarter window. The cowl seal fits across the top of the cowl and seals the hood to the cowl. By replacing these seals, it gives the car a real tight feel and cuts down on wind noise. Photo #3: Between the roof rail stainless and the roof, there is a thin strip of caulking. This will also need to be cleaned before installing. A rag and lacquer thinner works great. Photo #4: The caulking strip kit, part #88-0277-1, will install on the roof rail stainless to give an air tight seal between stainless and roof. A simple and inexpensive way to tighten and seal up your Camaro is toreplace the weather stripping. This cowl and roof rail weather stripping willgive a tight seal that cuts down on wind noise!

Now with the new roof rail weather stripping and cowl sealyour Camaro will not only look good, but with less windnoise, it will sound great too!

Photo #5a & 5b: Insert an awl through the slots in the roof railstainless to locate the holes in the body, and punch a holethrough the caulking strip. Then, using a roof rail retainerbutton, part #WS-99, anchor the roof rail stainless to the body.

Photo #6:The couplerwill connectthe A-pillarstainless tothe roofstainless.

Photo #8a & #8b: At thefront of the roof railweather strip, there is amolded end that is held tothe body with two plasticpush pins. These areincluded with the roof railweather strip kit.

Photo #9: Thehood to cowlweather stripping,part #WS-100, isthe long rubberpiece that sealsthe rear of thehood to the cowl.This seal slipsonto the front ofthe ventilator.

Photo #10: Now with the seal installed, anchor the ventilatorin front of the windshield. The seal gets trapped between thetop of the cowl, and the ventilator holds it in place.

Photo #7: The roof rail weather stripping, part #WS-4, slipsinto the stainless channel. We found that using a plasticbondo spreader or plastic knife works great to push theweather stripping into place.
