Express Full Backup Technology:Application Consistent Block Level Snapshots
Express Full Backup Overview:– Block level agent enhanced full backup– Block level change tracking and replication for files and
applications– Less CPU overhead than typical AV filter– Only changed blocks moved (i.e. Full volume = change rate)
Performance:– SG’DB Size: 300gb– Change Rate: 10%– Full Backup Size: 30GB

Efficient Storage:De-duplication & Compression by any other name
Disk Utilization:– Express Full backups saved as a Snapshot on DPM server – Incremental saved as well (i.e. one full = multiple recovery
points)– Result is lower disk required for a full backup which includes
multiple recovery points– Benefit scales with retention and is dependant on change rate– Optimized for lower change rates and longer retention
Performance:– SG/DB Size: 100gb– Change Rate: 10%– Frequency: Daily full, 15
min Inc– Replica Size: 110gb– Shadowcopy Size: 20gb– SC recovery points: 97
