1.0 VERSION NUMBERING
With the release of CallistoView 6.0.0.0.0.0, a new version number system has been implemented. This
system allows the user to identify what has changed in a given release. It also allows configuration files
to be associated with a version to help with backward compatibility.
1.1 VERSION FIELDS
CallistoView version numbers will now consist of six fields. The first two fields represent the major and
minor version number. The major version number will rarely increment. The minor version number will
increment with each standard release. The next four fields represent the CallistoView configuration
software version, the EDGE firmware version, the IoE2 firmware version and the version of
IoE1/IoG/Polaris firmware.
As changes to each of these aspects of the release occur, their version number will be incremented.
For example, if we have a release with a version number 6.1.2.3.4.5, the version number represents:
6 Major release number
1 Minor release number
2 CallistoView configuration software version
3 EDGE firmware version
4 IoE2 firmware version
5 IoE1/IoG/Polaris firmware version

If the next standard release after our 6.1.2.3.4.5 example incorporates a change to some aspect of the
CallistoView software, such as resolving a mapping bug in one of the server applications, and there is a
change to the EDGE firmware, the release will have a version number of 6.2.3.4.4.5, where:
6 The major release number has remained the same.
2 The minor release has been incremented to 2.
3 The CallistoView application version has incremented to 3.
4 The EDGE firmware version has incremented to 4.
4 The IoE2 firmware version remains the same.
5 The IoE1/IoG/Polaris firmware version remains the same.
Each release will contain all changes from previous versions. New versions can be installed on top of
old versions if desired. Occasionally, a release will be made where the minor version number does not
increment but one of the versions in the four latter fields will increment. This will be done for minor
bug fixes that need to be done quickly and don’t warrant a standard release increment.

2.0 RTU INTERROGATOR
CallistoView now incorporates a feature called the RTU interrogator. Prior to downloading a
configuration to a node, the interrogator will query the node and retrieve information about the type
of node, its IP address, a user definable node label, and information about other nodes in the Arcnet
network.
This information allows the user to verify that the node they are connected to is the intended unit. If
the user believes that they are connected to the incorrect unit, they can simply abort the download
without changing the configuration of the unit they are connected to - otherwise, they can proceed
with the download. This feature was added especially for users who configure their RTUs remotely or
through Ethernet.
2.1 ENABLING THE INTERROGATOR
To enable the RTU interrogator, call up the main CallistoView screen. Next, from the Setup menu,
choose Options and select Interrogate RTU. When this option is selected, the Interrogator will appear
when a download operation is initiated.

2.2 NODE INFORMATION TABLE
When the interrogator is enabled and a download action is performed in CallistoView, the RTU is
queried for information from all nodes in the configuration. This information is displayed in a table
along with information from the configuration. The user can compare expected configuration
information with what was reported by the RTU to ensure that they are connected to the correct RTU.
After the user has reviewed the displayed information, the Continue button is pressed to commence
with the download.
2.2.1 INFORMATION FIELDS
In general, the fields labeled “Expected” show information from the configuration. Fields labeled
“Reported” display information gathered from the node. The field definitions are:
Node The node number returned from the RTU.
Expected Type Displays the type of node corresponding to the given node
number in the configuration.
Reported Type Displays the type of node returned from the RTU corresponding
to the given node number.

Expected ID This field corresponds with the node name which can be
assigned on the main CallistoView screen. This is to be used as
an identifier, allowing the expected ID to be compared with
the reported ID from the RTU. This value can be altered by
changing the node name on the main CallistoView screen or by
clicking on the field in the interrogator. When the node
name/expected ID is changed, the point names for all points on
the node are also changed. This is because the node name is a
prefix in all point names. Most servers will automatically be re-
mapped with the new point names. Applications that contain
point selection fields are not updated and must be manually
changed after a node name/expected ID change. It is important
to check the server mapping and any point selection fields
after the node name/expected ID is changed.
Reported ID This field serves as an identifier that is stored on the node. The
interrogator reads and displays this information so the user can
confirm that they are connected to the correct unit. To change
the reported ID, click on the field in the interrogator. A dialog
will appear allowing text to be entered. When the OK button is
pressed, the text will be sent and saved to the node.
Expected IP This field corresponds with the IP address, subnet mask and
default gateway set in the configuration. This applies only to IP
capable nodes, IoE2 and EDGE.
Reported IP This field corresponds with the IP address, subnet mask and
default gateway settings on the node. The interrogator allows
the user to change the IP address of the node by clicking on the
field. A dialog appears that allows the user to enter the new IP
address, subnet mask and default gateway. When the OK
button is pressed, the new parameters are sent to the node.
The node will reboot and download will terminate. When the
node is finished booting, the new IP parameters are applied.
This applies only to IP capable nodes, IoE2 and EDGE.

Firmware Date/Version Displays the firmware build date and associated CallistoView
version of the firmware currently loaded on the node.
Mode Displays the current mode of the node: fully functional or
default mode.
Connections Displays the available console and download connection
interfaces available on the node. Clicking on this field will test
the IP connection on the applicable node.
2.2.2 NODE MAPPING BY QUERY
The default query for available nodes is limited to nodes present in the configuration. If the user would
like to scan for other nodes present in the Arcnet network, the Map button can be pressed. A dialog
box appears allowing the user to select the range of node numbers scanned. When the Map button is
pressed, scanning will commence.
It will take about 1 second per node to complete the scan. When scanning is complete, the detected
nodes are displayed in the interrogator RTU Nodes window. Any nodes that are not in the configuration
are marked as “UNEXPECTED”. Nodes that are in the configuration but are not present on the Arcnet
network, are marked as “Off Line” in the Reported Type field. IoA nodes may be marked “Off Line”
even if they are present.

2.3 LIMITATIONS
Older node types have limitations in their ability to interface with the interrogator. Please take note of
the following:
IoG nodes will be reported as IoE1 nodes. The IoG and IoE1 use identical firmware.
The interrogator cannot distinguish between IoD1, IoC1 or IoP1 nodes. These node types use
identical firmware. For these node types, the Reported Type field will display “IoC1”, “IoD1”
or “IoP1”.
IoA1 nodes may not appear or may be incorrectly marked “Off Line” in the interrogator view.
The IoA firmware has limitations in the way it can communicate with the interrogator.
