A. SURVEYOR STATEMENT
The vessel GRAIG ROTTERDAM, moored at Callao, Peru the 18th November 2019 was
inspected this day. At inspector´s arrival, he was advised by Master that company gives him
some specific instructions regarding to release documented information as: Ship´s
Certificates, plans, records, maintenance records. Master and his crew were willing to assist
the inspector and allowed him to work during the inspection. However, some certificates
and records have no been provided as evidence to attach to this report.
B. DEFINITIONS
GOOD: Condition acceptable with only minor stop rusting
FAIR: Condition with local breakdown at edges or stiffeners and weld connections and/or
light rusting over 20% on more of areas under consideration, but less than as defined for
POOR Condition.
POOR: Condition with general breakdown of coating over 20% or more of areas or hard
scale at 10% or more of areas under consideration.
VERY POOR CONDITION: Condition of unacceptable condition of the ship.

As provided by principals.
E. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The MV “GRAIG ROTTERDAM”, a five (5) hatch, four (4) crane UK flag bulk carrier, was
inspected moored with portside alongside in the APM Terminal at berth 11-A at Callao Port,
Peru on May 18th and 19th 2019. During the survey the vessel was discharging two cargoes,
Soybean and Maize in bulk. Five (5) cargo holds found in good apparent condition, all
officers and crew included master gave good cooperation. The main deck had good paint
and maintenance, the forecastle mooring winch, ropes, bitts and anchors were good. The
bitts were all correctly marked.
Hatch covers have been found all in good condition, correctly marked and all insulation,
insulation rubber, quick acting cleats, drain valves, rubber gaskets, compression bar and
rubber washers (doughnuts) were in good condition. The manholes were correctly marked
and well maintained.
The shell plating was found in a good condition. No damaged areas were noted on the
visible parts of the shell plating. There was some light corrosion, without steel plate pitting,
noted.

Structurally the vessel was noted in good condition. Cosmetically the ship is in fair to good
condition. It is apparent that the crew and management company have carried out the
required maintenance to keep the vessel to the required standards.
The hull coatings were noted in fair to good condition. Hull shows the coating to be worn,
stained, rusty and with minor scratches - typically from contact with quay fender and tugs
contact but not affecting the inner structure. No damages have been noticed to the hull.
During inspection part of the bow showed signs of corrosion.
The damaged patches of hull coating cover less than 1% of the total visible surface area of
the shell plating.
Moorings, anchors and their associated equipment were noted in fair condition of
maintenance, all bollards, bitts, winches (2) were in correct and operational condition. The
controls were noted to be operating correctly.
Forecastle deck shows the coatings worn, rusty in places but with all fittings in apparent
good order. The forecastle deck is free of any mechanical damage and appears to be
structurally sound.
Main deck was noted without mechanical damages and appears to be in structurally sound
condition. Less than 2% of the total observed surface area has been found with paint cover
breakdown - the paint covering appears moderately well maintained.
Poop deck steel plating was noticed free of mechanical damages or distortion. No
significant corrosion or rust scale was noticed, and paint cover is moderate with some rusty
areas. Less than 4% of the total observed surface area has been found with paint cover
breakdown.

Structurally, mechanically and electrically cranes appear to be in fair condition. Annual
survey was conducted on 28 Sept 2018 and the respective certificates issued.
Mooring winches and the anchor lifting gear equipment steel work were seen to have some
rust spotting and paint scratched areas.
No plate thinning or steel wastage has been noted, and mooring equipment located on
deck appears to be in sound condition. The mooring winch drums were seen to have pitting
but this is not considered to be significant.
Ballast tanks - Fore Peak, DWBT 3 Starboard and After Peak - were inspected and found in
appropriate condition; rust stained in some places but without sediment. There is no
mechanical damage or areas of corrosion.
The superstructure was noted free of mechanical damages or significant corrosion and has
fair paint cover.
Bridge has been found properly equipped, and navigation and communications are
properly maintained and operation. The bridge is clean, organized and properly furnished.
Accommodation block interior is in fair to good and clean condition. The crew have
maintained a fair standard of cleanliness and all electrical systems and equipment were
seen to be in a good condition.
Galley is clean and properly organized and equipped. The dry, refrigerated and freezer
spaces are clean and in fair condition. In all respects, the provisions stores are in a sound
condition and suitably equipped.
The engine room spaces are clean, well painted and organized. Paint work is bright and has
been regularly touched up. The generators were found without oil leaks and the
performance information and bunkers consumption figures suggest the engines are running
satisfactorily.

The main engine and all other auxiliary machinery and systems were noted to be
mechanically and electrically in good condition. Bilges were found clean without oil leakages
or water residue.
Original shipyard and manufacturers’ issued manuals are on board.

1 Guard railings
The guard railings on the main deck from port side at the forward to near hold # 1 was found
slightly deformed, possibly by contact with a grab during past discharged operations.
2 Vertical ladders
Protection angle bar of Vertical Ladder in Cargo Hold #3 port side forward part was found
detached.
3 Cargo Holds
In all cargo holds, the vertical ladder sections on the forward and aft bulkheads were noted
unprotected and as obstacles, which are highly susceptible to being damaged during
handling cargo in holds.
4 Vertical ladders
There are 2 bars missing on the vertical ladder in Cargo Hold #4 port side forward.

Comments/Defects/Observations:
• The main engine was found clean and main engine in good condition.
• The performance report showed consistent figures.
• The cylinder liner measurements were taken at the last dry dock in 2017. Normal wear was noted.
• The lube oil analysis reports are attached for the main engine including the last two sent samples dating
back to September 2017. All samples were found to be ‘normal’.
• The stern tube seals are compliant with EALs.
• The main engine looks in fair condition. No evidence of excessive fuel, oil or water leakages. Mountings are
free of stress corrosion and evidence of shaft misalignment was not noticed. Exhaust systems and
associated piping work is free of leakages boot and the lining is secured and in a good condition.

F12 Inspection of tanks Comments/Defects/Observations: Ballast tanks Fore Peak, WBT 3 Stbd and After Peak were inspected and found in appropriate condition and without sediments. Tanks have no mechanical damage or areas of corrosion. Paint coatings are in appropriate condition. There are not sediments build up or mud residues across the tank bottom. Valves control located at chief officer’s control room with remote control.

G. CONCLUSION OF MV GRAIG ROTTERDAM CONDITION SURVEY
Vessel has been found in general good condition with the sole exception as related before.
Ship`s hull, fitting, holds, hatches, deck plating, deck auxiliary machineries, cranes, main
engine and auxiliary machineries, pumps, engine plating and structure, ballast tanks as
examined, good maintenance, with negligible waste, wear. External hull is cosmetically
poor. Some indents have been identified at fore port quarter, but was not possible to
determine the cause.
Hatches and holds are in good acceptable condition. Structure is in general good condition,
with the sole exception remarked as fair in this report.
Inspection reveals that engine room is able to perform the intended job as created. Auxiliary
machinery found operative with negligible waste, wear.
In the opinion of attending undersigned, from general examination at this time, while the
vessel was berthed at Port of Callao, Peru, during cargo and ballast condition, the Bulk
Carrier Grain Rotterdam in in GOOD CONDITION of operation with the exception duty
remarked and supported by pictures.
This inspection has been made without prejudice and acting in good faith
