Carrier Corporation (RACAN)Brian Monk, P.Eng., is Director, Sales / Marketing for theRACAN Custom Air Handling Division of Carrier Corporationin Montreal. From 1998 to 2006, Brian was the Vice-Presidentof Sales / Marketing for Dectron International, specializing inthe application of dehumidification / filtration systems forcommercial and industrial environments. He has been amember of ASHRAE since 1988 and, as Director ofEngineering for Circul-Aire, had spent 10 years in theapplication and design of air filtration and energy recoverysystems in the industrial and commercial HVAC market.
His academic background includes a degree in AppliedScience (Building Systems Engineering Technology) from Vanier College and aBachelor of Building Engineering from Concordia University. Brian is a RegisteredProfessional Engineer in the Provinces of Quebec and British Columbia. Affiliationsinclude AEE (Association of Energy Engineers), ASME (American Society ofMechanical Engineers), AWWA (American Water Works Association) and AQME(Quebec Association for Energy Conservation).
Mr. Monk is an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer and Part-Time Professor atConcordia University in the Faculty of Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering.

President's ReportSarah Takaki from “Engineers Without Borders”explained, in detail, some of the great work they aredoing world-wide. We thank them for their time andefforts and for their time with us, and we wish them thebest of luck in their future endeavours.
January’s meeting will be held at the University ofWaterloo with a Distinguished Lecturer from Quebecdiscussing Hospital Infiltration and AirborneContaminants. Please note the special date changefrom our regular meetings. If you have any questions orrequire further information about this special remotemeeting, please feel free to contact any member of theHamilton Chapter Executive. Please be sure to RSVPto Adam Werthmiller – [email protected] confirm your attendance. You should have receivedan e-mail dedicated to this particular meeting by now. ASHRAE Satellite BroadcastApril 16, 2008
On April 16, 2008, ASHRAE's Chapter TechnologyTransfer Committee (CTTC) will present a satellitebroadcast and simultaneous webcast on "IntegratedBuilding Design: Bringing the Pieces Together toUnleash the Power of Teamwork."
Online registration for site coordinators and webcastviewers begins March 1 by going towww.ashrae.org/ibdbroadcast. Registration for satelliteviewers begins March 15. Information about theprogram and speakers is avai lable atwww.ashrae.org/ibdbroadcast.
Three PDH credits will be granted to those who view theprogram and then complete the Participant ReactionForm on ASHRAE's web page following the broadcast.
As an added benefit, a $50 discount will apply to a one-year membership for anyone who joins ASHRAE as anew member in conjunction with the broadcast. Checkout ASHRAE's website for more details.
Note that, as in previous years, the ASHRAE HamiltonChapter will be hosting this satellite broadcast at theCrossroads Communication Center in Burlington. Markit on your calendar now and plan to attend!

2007 – 2008 Meeting ScheduleThis year's meeting schedule is summarized below. Except for some special events, all meetings will be held at the Royal Hamilton YachtClub, at the north end of McNab St., on the Hamilton Harbour (If you need a map, visit our web site). New products and/or services maybe presented informally via a "technical session" or a "table top demonstration" prior to dinner. After dinner, the main topic of the eveningis presented by the "feature speaker". If you are interested in presenting a technical session, booking table top space to promote yourproduct and/or service or, if you have a suggestion for a feature subject and/or speaker, please contact Terry Fowler (Programs Chair).There is a charge of $75.00 for "table top demonstration" space and this includes a business card ad for two months.
