He was accepted into the prestigious Y Combinator startup program, where

he developed social media products in Silicon Valley while networking with the giants of the startup world, including the founders of Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest. Zack has spoken at numerous industry events, including the ICCFA Wide World of Sales conference, ICCFA Annual Convention, ICCFA University, NFDA Annual Convention, OGR Annual Convention and more.

Kathi Wells is a Sales & Marketing Consultant with Global Atlantic Financial Group.  She has been training funeral home and cemetery staffs in the preneed market for 20+ years.  Kathi has assisted firms across the country with their recruiting and hiring needs, organizational development and business planning work-shops as well as the development of several aftercare and group presentation programs. 

Kathi spends much of her time training preneed sales managers and salespeople to be better at what they do.  She currently lives in Hawaii with her husband, David.

Session Description: Making sure families receive the kind of service we all claim to provide can be challenging at times. Who talked to them first? What did they say to the family? How long have they been waiting? What impact does that have on the family? This session looks at the various relationships within a firm and how the daily focus of each individual or group can best be directed back to where it belongs – on the family.

Douglas Gober, Jr., Gober Strategic Capital

Doug Gober began his funeral service career thirty-eight years ago as a sales representative in the casket industry. He has earned numerous national awards from various organizations within the death care industry. Doug also served as a consultant on various marketing and merchandising projects conducted on an international scale.

In September 2014, Doug formed Gober Strategic Capital as a way to broaden the range of counsel and resources he could bring to death care businesses. In addition to helping arrange financing through numerous sources, he can help business owners make the most of their strategic and market opportunities.

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Doug graduated from the University of Alabama in 1977, where he earned a Business Degree in Accounting. Subsequently, he became a Certified Public Accountant specializing in industrial audits and corporate taxes.

Doug is married to Victoria Amato and is based in New Orleans. He is the father of four children and has five grandchildren.

Session Description: You worked your tail off to create a marketable difference for your business and blazed a trail in your market. Hear from one of the funeral industry’s leading evangelists about new opportunities to up your game and do more with the opportunities available in your market.

Gober will pull together a variety of key content examples and examine how they are applied directly to funeral homes and cemeteries. He will evaluate the three sources of ceremony content and then delve into how each of these impacts the likelihood of a memorable event.

The presentation is loaded with real life examples and visuals. He has also video-interviewed clergy from many denominations and will share their responses about their role in service content. He will also tackle each area from the perspective of how to differentiate yourself in your marketplace.

Terry McHale of Aaron Read and Associates has served as CFDA’s legislative advocate for many years. He will provide an update on current legislative issues for funeral service providers and provide insight into the current legislative session.

Lisa Moore is the Chief of the Cemetery and Funeral Bureau which is responsible for licensing funeral directors, funeral homes, crematories, many cemeteries as well as other aspects of funeral service in California. She will update attendees on current develop-ments in the regulation of the professions and enforcement issues.
