PAGE 3 CALICO PRESS JUNE
There will be no Wednesday Afternoon project in June following the luncheon, but we look
forward to seeing you in September!
As usual, the Wednesday afternoon group put on a lovely display at the quilt show. It goes to show
how much we have accomplished during the past two years…....that, in spite of the fact that many
had already gifted their projects prior to the show and no longer had them to display.
****************************************************
Many thanks to everyone who taught a project during this past year and to all who helped in various ways.
****************************************************
We are looking forward to some great projects for next year . The first being, « Easy-Peasy
Strip Quilt » by Bev Longford, in September ! Materials list will be in the September
newsletter.
The September newsletter will also include the 2013-2014 line-up. Some projects to look
forward to are : fat quarter placemats ; a quilt-as-you-go quilt ; coasters & pin cushions; sea-

Graduation Gift
This quilt with stitches strong and true Holds all the love I have for you; No antique treasure or work of art, Just the simple gift of a mother’s heart. Gay patches with some dark mixed in The way my love for you has been; Joy and pride—some worry, too. Evenings waiting up for you. As I placed each stitch with patient care I thought of you, and breathed a prayer, That God would keep you safe tonight And show me the way to guide you right. Now you are grown—my job is through As the quilt is bound and finished, too. It holds my love and faith and care To travel with you everywhere. It may not seem important now, But keep it safely anyhow. And when there’s no one else to care You’ll find my love still waiting there To hold you warmly for awhile, And see you through a time of trial. No antique treasure or work of art- Just the simple gift of a mother’s heart.

I think that everyone would gladly join me in thanking Joyce Armstrong for the wonderful readings that she does to get each of our meetings off to a good start … sometimes funny, sometimes touching…...they always speak to us in some way.

We are very grateful for all the support that Quilts For Cancer has received from so many guild
members and other volunteers. Without this support, we would not have made the transition
from our previous affiliation so smoothly! We quite literally have an army of volunteers!

Warsaw Lion' Club Cruise Night, July 17 ( rain date July 24th). 4 pm
With the support of the Warsaw Lions Club, Quilts For Cancer will be featured at this
cruise night. This is a great opportunity to see a large collection of the area's vintage cars.
If you have an old car, polish it up & come out to show it off. Admiration from the group is
guaranteed. If you don't have an old car come anyway. The Lion's have the best burgers in town and
a local church group offers tasty home baked pies.
We would certainly appreciate a show of support for Quilts For Cancer at this event!
