THE FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS STARTS WITH NUTRITION
Starting calves off on a solid foundation from
day one is critical to their success and the
future success of your herd. The foundation
includes nutrition and builds with colostrum,
water, electrolytes, housing and sanitation.
Solid nutrition must be the bedrock of this
foundation. If we aren’t meeting calves’
nutritional requirements early in life, they may
not perform as well down the road. Feeding
calves a full potential diet of 2.5 pounds
of milk solids per day heavily impacts calf
growth and future milk production. This level
REMEMBER, THERE IS NO SECOND CHANCE TO FEED CALVES RIGHT.
of nutrition is recommended as the first option by Land
O’Lakes Animal Milk Products Company.
Even calves fed the best nutrition can face challenges and
stress that may impact their growth and performance. Our
complete line of Calf Care products is a complement to any
nutrition program to help calves fight challenges and get back
on track to grow.
For more than 60 years, Land O’Lakes Animal Milk Products
Company has been the leader in innovative research and
nutrition programs for pre-weaned calves, and we continue to
focus on research-proven technologies and products to help
all calves reach their potential.

NEWBORN
LAND O LAKES® Colostrum Replacement is available in single dose packages (# 2402423) and a 40 dose pail (# 2402426).
Newborn calves require quality nutrition and
natural antibodies within 6 hours of birth to get off
to a healthy start. This product is licensed by the
USDA as a single-dose, colostrum replacement.
LAND O LAKES® COLOSTRUM REPLACEMENT
BOVINE IgG
A necessity to a newborn’s health and vitality, nutrient-
rich colostrum provides calves with antibodies and
immunoglobulins during the first hours of life, leaving a lasting
impact on long-term health and performance.
LAND O LAKES® Colostrum Replacement is a single dose
replacement for maternal colostrum in the first day of life:
• Provides 100 grams or more of IgG in 16.6 oz (470g)
of powder (>20% IgG)
• Made from natural bovine colostrum
• Helps achieve successful passive transfer
Colostrum Replacement
Colostrum management is a key component to raising healthy, pre-weaned calves. A successful program follows these principles:

QUALITY – Colostrum should provide enough IgG (immunoglobulin G) to achieve serum IgG levels greater than 10 mg/ml, should be low in bacteria and cleanly collected and fed.
QUANTITY – Feed 10% of body weight to the calf at first feeding.
QUICKNESS – Feed within the first 6 hours of life, because a calf’s ability to absorb IgG drops dramatically during the first 24 hours of life (see graph).
Colostrum replacement can replace maternal colostrum and get calves off to a bio-secure start when faced with:
• Poor sanitation situations
• Low quality maternal colostrum
• Dangerous levels of bacteria numbers in maternal colostrum
• Johne’s disease

LAND O LAKES® Electrolyte Base is available in a 25 lb. bag (# 2402430).
LAND O LAKES® Electrolyte Add Pack is available in a 3 lb. canister (# 2402444-146).
Scours can occur as a result of pathogens and stressors,
leading to electrolyte loss and dehydration.
LAND O LAKES® Electrolyte System is designed to
maintain hydration during this critical period.
LAND O LAKES® Electrolyte System provides
electrolytes and essential fluids when young calves
are dehydrated, exposed to heat or cold stress or
experience electrolyte loss.
The LAND O LAKES® Electrolyte System is composed
of two parts. The Base provides needed electrolytes
and essential fluids, and the Add Pack, combined with
the Base, assists with electrolyte transport and helps
maintain proper body fluid levels.
ADDRESSES THE IMPACT OF SCOURS
ELECTROLYTE SYSTEM BASE + ADD PACK
ElectrolyteSystem
BASE – ADDRESS SCOURS EARLYComposed of high dextrose for quick energy and Vitamin B Complex, the Electrolyte System Base provides beneficial
electrolytes through its advanced suspension technology. The Base is a useful tool to use at the first signs of scours,
before visible signs of dehydration. The product should also be fed before stressful events such as a long transport,
introduction of new calves to the group, or hot and humid weather.
ADD PACK – TREATMENTFormulated to only be fed with the Electrolyte System Base, the Electrolyte System Add Pack should be mixed in the
Base and administered 2 to 3 times per day. Glycine assists with electrolyte transport, and sodium acetate serves as
an alkalinizing agent to help maintain proper body fluid pH levels.
Use the Add Pack, in combination with the Base, at the first visible signs of severe scours.
It’s important that milk or milk replacer feeding be continued when calves scour as both the liquid and nutrients are
needed from the normal diet. Very few electrolyte formulations contain enough calories to support maintenance and
gain. Nutrients derived from milk or milk replacer are important to help the calf to overcome the scour challenge.
MIXING GUIDE
DIRECTIONSThe Electrolyte System Base is formulated for up to two feedings per day.
• When mixing the Base, water temperature should be between 110° F and 120° F.
• Regardless of size, the composition must be mixed thoroughly.
• Using a bottle or pail, two quarts of Base should be fed per calf.
• Do not mix LAND O LAKES® Electrolyte System Base with milk or milk replacer.
• Provide free choice low sodium water (less than 50 ppm sodium) at all times or at least between electrolyte feedings.
• Keep container tightly closed between uses.
The Electrolyte System Add Pack should only be used with the Electrolyte System Base.
• Use 110° F to 120° F water to activate the suspension technology.
• If a suckling calf won’t drink, the Electrolyte System is safe to drench.
• If the animal is severely dehydrated, consult your veterinarian.

Calves get scours from a variety of
pathogens and stressors. Maintaining hydration
and nutrients is critical.
ELECTROLYTE COMPLETE An electrolyte that provides nutritional support for calves
Like humans, calves are made up of mostly water,
making it critical to maintain hydration. Calves can lose
5 percent to 10 percent of their bodyweight due to water
loss within one day of scouring. Fluid loss above 8
percent requires intravenous treatment.
LAND O LAKES® Electrolyte Complete provides nutritional
support for calves with one, easy-to-use package.
DEHYDRATION
ElectrolyteComplete
Designed to provide calves nutritional support during health challenges and periods of stress,
LAND O LAKES® Electrolyte Complete replaces electrolytes and provides essential nutrients to maintain
hydration. Unlike many other electrolyte products on the market, LAND O LAKES® Electrolyte Complete
does not contain direct-fed microbials which can contribute to acidosis in the scouring calf.
LAND O LAKES® Electrolyte Complete provides excellent intake and top performance from
a cost-effective product.

With
Maintaining gut health is important to the health
of all animals, especially young calves which are
not born with a completely developed rumen or
digestive system.
CALF INSURE® LAND O LAKES® CALF SUPPLEMENT
The gut wall serves as a barrier between the animal
and its environment, keeping harmful bacteria out of
the blood. This barrier is critical for development of
young calves.
Calves with a healthy gut and digestive system can
grow more rapidly and are more feed efficient. A
calf’s gastrointestinal tract affects its ability to absorb
nutrients. The more nutrients young calves are
provided, the better equipped they can be to recover
from stressors.

FLY CONTROL
ClariFly® Add-Pack
ACTIVE ELEMENTSThe active ingredient, Diflubenzuron, is considered by the EPA to pose a low risk:
• To human health
• For use with either whole milk or reconstituted milk replacer
DIRECTIONSFor maximum effectiveness, begin feeding ClariFly® Larvicide early in the spring, 30 days
before flies begin to appear, and continue feeding throughout the summer and into the fall until
cold weather reduces or ends fly activity. To minimize the number of overwintering pupae, feed
ClariFly® Larvicide 30 days past first frost.
The actual feeding period will depend on the regional climate. Starting a program during the fly
season will require the use of other fly control measures to reduce existing adult fly populations.
Dosage is relative to calf body weight and should equate to 0.1 mg. of Diflubenzuron per kg. of
body weight per day. For individual calves, dosage of Add-Pack should equal 1 tsp. per 120 lb.
of body weight or 0.1 oz. per 100 lb. of body weight.
