THEMATCHMAKER

Based on the novella “Letters of a County Matchmaker”

by JOHN B. KEANE one of Ireland’s most celebrated writers.

Directed by Michael Scott

Michael Scott’s iconic production of John B Keane’s hit comedy play The Matchmaker returns starring two of Ireland’s favourite actors, Mary McEvoy and Jon Kenny. Together they play a myriad of characters in this hilarious and earthy dramatic comedy. The play follows the ef-forts of Dicky Mick Dicky O’Connor to make matches for the lonely and lovelorn.

Using his inimitable way with words and his one sense of “devilment” and wit, Keane delves into the longings, hungers, fears and foibles of this collection of lonely country people and creates a marvellously colourful world, taking us back to a simpler time, when phones were few and far between and the only web was one left behind by spiders.

Opera Trio – Voce Di Donna presentDISARMING DIVAS

& SPICY ROLESDirector: Mary Curtin

Voce di Donna (Voice of a Wom-an) is a Cork based trio of experi-enced performers (Fiona O’Reilly (Soprano), Christina O’Flynn (Mezzo) & Bethan Lee (Piano)). This unique group came together because of their shared passion for opera and the desire to bring it to a wider audience than it currently enjoys. They do so by transforming the elitist image of opera into an exciting, accessible and affordable theatrical event.

One comment summed up the attraction of their first produc-tion Three ladies and a Suitcase: “Voce di Donna: Three ladies, 15 Operas and all out of one Suitcase. Beat that! Outstanding Perfor-mance…check them out!”

Voce di Donna’s newest produc-tion Disarming Divas and Spicy Roles is directed by Mary Curtin and is supported by the Cork Coun-ty Council Arts Office. Audiences will be amazed at how much is packed into the new show and how the full gamut of emotions is unleased with the sometimes hilar-ious, often tear-jerking and always entertaining performance of the three girls.

If Opera is your thing, treat yourself to a performance of pure delight. If Opera is not your thing, allow your-self to be delightfully surprised!
