• Entrance requirements: 18 years of age or high school diploma.
• Apply online spring of 2018.
• Cost is $46.00 per unit (CA residents).
• Benefits include: less costly, time to explore courses for future major, and
students may live at home.
• Community Colleges prefer their own placement tests. Students may sign
up and take Valley College placement test Accuplacer on campus in Spring
2018. Dates will be announced to students.
• Certificate Programs or Four-year college transfer program.

CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITIES•
• 23 campuses
• Application window October 1 – November 30 at: www2.calstate.edu/apply
• Student must meet GPA and A-G requirements
• Application fee $55.00 per campus
• SAT or ACT required

• At the end of the application, select the campus(es) and program(s) that you would like to apply.
• There is an application fee waiver within the online application. A maximum of four fee waivers per application term.
• December is the last SAT/ACT test date for regular admission (for most colleges).
• Grade point average is calculated from grades 9-12(10/11 for competitive schools) in a-g courses.

• Applications are available now online at: www.universityofcalifornia.edu/apply
• Application deadline is November 30
• Application fee is $70.00 per campus
• One application is submitted to all UC campuses to which you apply
• There is an application fee waiver within the online application.A maximum of four fee waivers per application term.

• SAT Test or the ACT Assessment plus Writing is required.
• The SAT Subject Tests are not required however, certain programs/
majors recommend them.

In addition admission is based 9-12 a-g courses.

• Great variation in entrance requirements.
• Check admissions requirements carefully for grade and course eligibility.
• The Common Application is the preferred method of application
at www.commonapp.org.
• The Common App fee waiver is within the application.
Tips For College Applications
1. Get unofficial copy of transcript (helps when filling out the application).
2. Save a copy of college applications before sending.
3. Keep the same email address and password.
4. Don’t wait until the deadlines.
5. Respond to all letters sent from colleges for info ASAP.

SAT/ACT
1. Check dates/deadlines for upcoming tests. Must use SAT fee waiver in order to receive 4 college application fee waivers that will be located on your college Board home account.
2. Fee waivers: See Mrs. Meraz in Counseling if you qualify for free or reduced lunch or are enrolled in AVID. Two fee waivers available per test.

FASFA Free Application for Federal Student Aid
A. Apply for FSA ID: Now (both guardian and student) keep password in a safe place. This is used for an electronic signature on the FAFSA.

Senior Portfolio/Scholarships
A. Senior Portfolio is a district requirement for graduation and must be completed and turned in to Ms. Tolerico by Dec. 1, 2017.
B. Scholarship Portfolio: Data sheet will be completed online and needs to be submitted by October 30th to be considered for a school or community based scholarship.
C. Additional Scholarships available will be listed on the Cajon High School websiteunder Counseling, Scholarship List. www.chscowboys.com
Senior Portfolio ExpectationsA. It is up to each senior English teacher to set
up due dates for all work required for the portfolio. Please see English teacher for individual expectations.
B. When the Final Scholarship Portfolio is submitted, PLEASE DO NOT STAPLE OR PUNCH HOLES IN DOCUMENT OR SUBMIT PAPERS, WITH TEACHER CORRECTION MARKS.
