CABLE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
General
FRP COMPOSITES / PRODUCTS FC – 01 01/14
Fiberglass cable management systems are used in highly corrosive environments, especially in the harsh environment of the offshore oil and gas industry. Applications in high electromagnetic fields are possible. The material is transparent to electromagnetic waves. Fiberglass cable management systems give you the load capacity of steel, plus the inherent characteristics afforded by the pultrusion technology: non-conductive, non-magnetic and corrosion resistant. Although light in weight, the strength to weight ratio surpasses that of equivalent steel products. Fiberglass cable management systems will not rust, nor does it ever require painting. They are available in both polyester and vinyl ester resin systems, manufactured to meet ASTM E-84, Class 1 Flame Rating and self-extinguishing requirements of ASTM D-635. A surface veil is applied during the pultrusion process to ensure a resin-rich surface for superior corrosion resistance as well as an ultraviolet exposure barrier. Fiberglass cable management systems come in gray or blue (polyester resin) and beige (vinyl ester resin). Custom colors are available on request. There are three systems available, Cable Trays & Cable Channels for general-purpose applications and Cable Ladders suited for larger heavier duty commercial projects. Various fittings & accessories such as splice plates, bends etc. are available in kit from EMN Composites.

Cable Ladder Systems
FRP COMPOSITES / PRODUCTS FC – 04 04/14
Specifications Cable ladder systems are made of straight sections, fittings and accessories.
Straight section structural elements: side rails, rungs and splice plates.
Side rails: FRP pultruded “C” configuration (Series C) or “E” configuration (Series E)
Side rails are predrilled to accept splice plates.
Rungs: square hollow tube 25x25mm (Series C) or strut channel 40x25 mm (Series E)
Cable ladder must have integral connection between side rails and rungs consisting of
non-metallic mechanical fasteners and adhesive bonding.
Standard straight section length: 3,000 mm, 6,000 mm.
Standard side rail height: 75 mm, 100 mm, 150 mm.
Standard cable ladder width (inside width): 150; 225; 300; 450; 600; 750; 900 mm.
Standard rung spacing: 150; 225; 300; 450 mm.
Straight section structural elements are pultruded from glass fiber reinforced polyester or vinyl ester resin. Minimum glass content 55 to 60% in all pultruded shapes. They are constructed with a surface veil to insure a resin-rich surface and ultraviolet resin. Pultruded shapes are manufactured to meet ASTM E-84, Class 1 flame rating and self-extinguishing requirements of ASTM D-635. All FRP fittings & accessories are pre-fabricated and will be same specification as of straight sections.

Drawing of “E” Side Rail 100x30
The ladder rung is slotted along the length and fitted into the receiving section of the cable ladder where a lip on the base of the ladder side rail gives a positive grip on the rung. Each rung is bolted at each end to the cable ladder side rail to ensure that there is a permanent and secure connection that does not rely on the expansion of plastic fittings for stability.

Cable Trays incorporate a unique “click fit” cover that grips the tray and holds in place in all the heaviest weather without the need for additional clips or mechanical fastening but is still sufficiently flexible to be able to be removed and refitted without loss of the “click fit” functionality. This important feature significantly speeds installation, keeping installation costs down and avoids the possibly of mechanical clips being lost of dropping into process equipment or product.
