Students have each class everyday. Classes are 45 minutes in duration.

Students have physical education and an arts elective every day.

Students have PRIDE everyday. PRIDE lasts 17 minutes.

• Monday PRIDE – Silent Reading

• Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday PRIDE – Students study, get help from teachers, and visit the library.

• Friday PRIDE – School-wide instruction on important topics.

• Students have lockers and need to know how to use a combination lock.

• Students socialize at lunchtime instead of recess.

• Students can participate in many after school activities.

Arts Rotation: A year of exploration, nine weeks at a time!

In the 6th grade Arts Rotation, students take 4 courses each lasting 9 weeks.

The Arts Rotation gives students an opportunity to explore a variety of electives while broadening their interests and skills.

In Art 6, students explore many forms of art including designing, drawing, painting, sculpture, and more!

Sixth grade projects have included: self-portraits, illustrated pinwheels, layered paper masks, watercolor paintings, and paper/clay sculptures.

This class provides opportunities for students to explore world languages (Chinese, Spanish, French, Japanese, Latin, and Sign Language…) and many different writing systems (Hebrew, Katakana…) through fun activities.

Students gain knowledge and skills using a variety of computer applications and multimedia tools.

Students use the computer technology knowledge they acquire to create a project.

Programming concepts are applied to the development of games and educational simulations.

In this class, students will acquire basic knowledge to appreciate music!

Units in the quarter include: music notation, instrumental families, various music styles, music genre, and guitar.

This course combines dance/movement, visual arts, music and

drama. Students will learn that all arts are a form of personal

expression.

Students will have opportunities to experiment, acquire skills and to

participate in the creative process.

Imagineering, students discover how and why people invent products and processes.

Thinking, imagining, creating, and inventing are experiences students will use to develop creative solutions to solve problems.

Students work individually and in collaborative teams.

Students use technology resources, tools, science, math and other subjects during the inventive process.

How Do Parents Change the Course Recommended by a Teacher?

Parents are encouraged to accept teacher recommendations for course selections for the 2015-2016 school year.

However, if parents would like to change a course from the recommended one, please use the Parent Request for Change form.

Completed forms are due by February 14, 2015.
