Valuabe Features
The decrease in time to resolution on problems, also a reduction on finger pointing of teams, “It’s the network, or it’s the application.” Things like that, the ability to pinpoint those problems very, very quickly.
The most valuable feature for me particularly within the enterprise space and what CA does is that they provide an integrated central approach to monitoring. No matter what tool we’re using whether it’s a phone system or whether it’s a storage system, whether it’s Unix or Windows, whether it’s an access point or a firewall, it can all be seen in a common pane of glass where you can see everything. All of our staff can all be trained on the same tool and then other people can see all the dependent infra-structure within the same tool.
We have the solution across all the produc-tion servers in our operation. We have seen, over the last 4 or 5 years, about a 30%...
It gives us an insight on what we need to monitor on our network. We get granulated data on where issues are occurring...
The intelligent agents which allows for detailed instruction sets to be deployed to systems.

Mostly with the WMI and the SQL database (Microsoft issues).
It has a limit, like any product, on the num-bers of systems that can be managed.
The scalability of the product and heteroge-neous OS coverage is really what sets this product apart from others. Other features...
Single page view of all the servers lets me monitor them at a glance. I can expand and see all the details at as single click expand.
Administration interface, in particular the infrastructure manager. The event console could also use a make-over.
I would say the NPM toolset has room for improvement. I haven’t seen the benefit of integrating it into NPM.
Correlation Outage handling.
I have deployed the product in multiple environments and across multiple OS types without issue.
We had some issues with getting failover polling engines working properly and were forced to abandon the effort...
The products are not plug and play even though HP has improved implementation over the years...
It’s very stable, and more importantly, it sup-ports failover components, which is a great feature.
No issues encountered.
No issues with scalability, the product can be used in a large enterprise. Different ad-mins can manage their scope of devices...
No issues encountered.
The UIM support team is excellent.
10/10 I would say 7 out of 10 stars. They really know their product technically. However, the response time for non impacting tickets...

We’re Able To Predict How Close We’re Ap-proaching Our Thresholds So We Can Head Off A Disaster.
It enables us to monitor the health and func-tionality of our nodes on the MPLS.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said.
We Primarily Chose CA UIM Because We Had A Bunch Of Disparate Systems. We Needed To Pull It Into A Single Tool, And We Needed
The Flexibility To Gain Some More Insight Into The End User Experience.

Average. I feel that HP don’t always look after their clients as well as they could post-sale.
