The desert is the hottest region. It is hot and dry.

Death valley only has 2 inches of rain a year! The regular one is 10 inches of rain a year.

Is a farmland which has lots of water.

Its also where California gets its grapes.

James Cook

James Cook was born in Britain.

He was a mapmaker and a sailor. He was in the British navy. He mapped New Zealand and Australia in a ship called Endeavor.

Sir Francis Drake was the first pirate to steal the Spanish treasures. He was sent by the England queen to steal Spanish treasures. He stopped at California to repair the hull.

Vitus Bering named the waterway that connected the tip of Russia to Alaska.

He named it the Bering Strait.

Christopher Columbus real name in Italy was Cólon. He called native Americans Indians because he thought he was in the Indies .

Pueblos were farming villages which gave the missions food. They had flat roofs to go on. They have no rain because there in the desert.
