Computer-Aided Design (CAD) is one of the many tools used by engineers and
the type of software in question. There are several different types of CAD. Eachof these different types of CAD systems require the operator to think differently
about how he will use them and he must design their virtual components in adifferent manner for each. Power electronics is one of the many fileds that use computer software to
help engineers in analysis, simulation and design of their components. This course will present the basics of CAD/CAE for Power Electronics and the
course oal is to ensure the students with the followin knowled e:
The main used software for CAD/CAE in power electronics; The methods of modeling and simulating an electrical power converter; The analysis and design of the power electronics circuits;
The basic rinci les behind the model of an electrical circuit.

,number of phases. A controller accomplishes the power flow controlbetween the two sides of the converter, in which the conversion of voltagesand currents should be achieved with as high energy-efficiency and highower densit as ossible.
Among multiple applications that use power electronics interface for powerflow control, the most common and important applications are:
Adjustable speed drives (stationary and mobile applications);
Converters for interfacing renewable energy sources to the grid.

The efficiency of power converters
The efficiency is the most important feature of a power electronicsconverter.
Hi h efficienc lead to low ower losses within converter. Also, small size
and reliable operation is then feasible. The efficiency is a good measure of converter performance.
A goal of the current technology is to construct converters of small size and.
