Block AssemblyNote: Pay attention to the orientation of the units when assembling the quilt top components.1. Sew (1) B 1-1/2” x 22-1/2” strip to each side of (1) A 22-1/2” square. Sew (1) B 1-1/2” x 24-1/2” strip to the top and to the bottom of the A square to make the Center Block (Fig. 1).

2. Place (1) C 2-7/8” square on top of (1) B 2-7/8” square, right sides together. Draw a line across the diagonal of the top square (Fig. 2). Sew 1/4” away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 2). Cut the (2) squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 3) to make (2) half-square triangles. Trim the half-square triangles to measure 2-1/2” square to make (2) Unit 1 squares (Fig. 4). Repeat to make (48) Unit 1 squares total.

3. Sew (4) Unit 1 squares together to make (1) Unit 2 square (Fig. 5). Repeat to make (12) Unit 2 squares total.

4. Sew (1) F Template 2 triangle, (1) D Template-3 triangle, (1) E Template 4 triangle and (1) F Template 1 triangle together as shown in Figure 6 to make (1) Unit 3 square. Trim unit to measure 4-1/2” square. Repeat to make (48) Unit 3 squares total.

5. Sew (1) F 2-1/2” x WOF strip and (1) E 2-1/2” x WOF strip together lengthwise to make (1) FE strip set (Fig. 7). Repeat to make (4) FE strip sets total.

6. Cut (48) Template 1 triangles from the (4) FE strip sets to make (48) Unit 4 triangles (Fig. 8).

7. Sew (1) F 2-1/2” x WOF strip and (1) D 2-1/2” x WOF strip together lengthwise to make (1) FD strip set (Fig. 9). Repeat to make (4) FD strip sets total.

8. Cut (48) Template 2 triangles from the (4) FD strip sets to make (48) Unit 5 triangles (Fig. 10).

10. Sew (1) Unit 3 square to each side of (1) Unit 6 square to make the top row. Repeat to make the bottom row. Sew (1) Unit 6 square to each side of (1) Unit 2 square to make the middle row. Sew the (3) rows together to make (1) Block One square (Fig. 12). Repeat to make (12) Block One squares total.

9. Sew (1) Unit 4 triangle, (1) B Template 1 triangle, (1) C Template 2 triangle and (1) Unit 5 triangle together as shown in Figure 11 to make (1) Unit 6 square. Trim unit to measure 4-1/2” square. Repeat to make (48) Unit 6 squares total.

11. Place (1) G Template 7 triangle on top of (1) H Template 8 triangle, right sides together, aligning the left sides (Fig. 13). Sew the (2) triangles together along the left side. Press the smaller triangle open.

12. Place (1) I Template 5 triangle on top of the H Template 8 triangle, right sides together, aligning the right sides (Fig. 14). Sew the (2) triangles together along the right side. Press the smaller triangle open to make (1) Unit 7 square(Fig. 15). Trim the unit to measure 5-1/2” square.

13. Repeat Steps 11-12 to make (20) Unit 7 squares total.

Quilt Top Assembly (Refer to the Quilt Diagram while assembling the quilt top.)15. Sew (2) Block One squares together. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew (1) strip to each side of the Center Block.

16. Sew (4) Block One squares together. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

17. Sew (1) B 1-1/2” x 48-1/2” strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) B 1-1/2” x 50-1/2” strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

18. Sew (5) Unit 8 squares and (5) Unit 7 squares together, alternating them. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew (1) strip to each side of the Center Block.

19. Sew (5) Unit 7 squares and (5) Unit 8 squares together. Sew (1) Unit 9 square to each end of the sewn strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block to make the quilt top.

Finishing20. Layer and quilt as desired.

21. Sew the (6) B 2-1/2” x WOF strips together end-to-end with 45-degree seams to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

22. Bind as desired.

14. Repeat Steps 11-12 and refer to Figures 16-17 for component identification, placement and orientation to make (20) 5-1/2” Unit 8 squares and (4) 5-1/2” Unit 9 squares.
