Whatever difference existed be-tween

BIG JOB FOR A BARBER
Will Be Due on Thomas Robertson ofMissouri in November if Bryan-
is Elected PresidentDenver July 11 Thomas Robert¬
son of Missouri appeared on thestreets with a beard four feet longand hair which was draped down overhis shoulders extending to the small-of his back
Mr Robertson came out of hiber-nation
¬
from Missouris hills whereRip Van Winklelike he has beensleeping and letting his hair grow forthe sake of William Jennings Bryan-
In 1S9G when Robertson was a com-paratively
¬
young man he made a vowthat he would let pig beard and hairgrow until Bryan was elected Presi ¬
dent of the United States In the fallof that year Robertson was disap-pointed
¬
and by the time the electionwas over he had developed a strongblack beard and a luxuriant growth-of jet black locks
He resolutely refused to go back onhis determination never to cut hishair or beard until Bryan became thePresident of the United States Inchby inch the hair grew year by yearits luxuriance faded away Four yearspassed and the determined man stoodfirmly by his declaration unmoved byentreaties of relatives and friends1900 came and with it hope rose againin Robertsons breast but Bryan wasagain defeated and Robertsons haircontinued to grow and to fade
Then came 1904 By this timebowed with the weight of eight addedyears and eight years growth of hir-sute
¬
adornment Robertson had begun-to age but his spirit of hope for theultimate triumph of his Man of Des ¬
tiny remained Robertson made an ¬
other wagerthat Bryan would bethe Democratic nominee Stung again-was he but now after 12 years Rob ¬
ertson is here with all his radiantsnowwhite hair and is one of the ec ¬
centric attractions in the conventioncity He has come with confidence-that his whiskers and his hair aresoon to go-
Bryan will be elected as sure asmy hair is three feet long he said
On Nov 4 I will hire three barbersand I am going to send my 12 yearsgrowth of hair to Mr Bryan for ijsouvenir
