Pryrs for PsyRow over call for
Troubles amnestyTHOSE who carried out some o the
worst atrocities o the Troubles are al-ready being given an unofcial am-nesty, it was claimed last night.
The comments were made by a victims relative in response to an
interview by the Police OmbudsmanAl Hutchinson who said it would beimpossible to properly investigate all
the murders o the past.Mr Hutchinson said an amnesty
should be considered to deal with thepast, but stressed that victims shouldmake the decisions on individualcases.
Speaking to the News Letterlast night Victims Commissioner,Brendan McAllister, said the idea oan amnesty would be repugnant to
the majority o victims.Mr Hutchinson said in an earlier
radio interview: I think the key
here is that the victim would havea say whether or not they mightconsider amnesty and that would bea conditional amnesty.
Weve had amnesty by many othernames, when you look at the two-year release in the peace agreement, you look at the inquiries that areongoing.
So its not as i its a new concept
either locally or internationally.
