Abstract
Tyrone and Lesley in a Spot is a 60 minute intermedial show combining music and screen in performance. Initial creative development at Metro Arts led to a performance at the Brisbane Powerhouse’s Queensland
Cabaret Festival (detailed at https://eprints.qut.edu.au/97638/) described at the time as ‘a unique piece of theatre’ (Sullivan 2016).
The work was selected and programmed for a season of five shows the Brisbane Festival’s Theatre Republic in September 2019. The Brisbane Festival is one of Australia's leading international arts festivals and its
Theatre Republic component is a curated collection of innovative works from around Australia and the world. This step forward sparked a redevelopment of the work, extending upon its previous iteration,
substituting new compositions for combined screen and song for the larger audiences in this higher profile context. The show performed at The Loft was well attended and reviewed, attracting notices from independent and
established arts reviewers.
