About us.Assistant Principal , Mr. Brandon Hall3Why are we here? The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requires that each Title I School hold an Annual Meeting of Title I parents for the purpose of1 Informing you of your schools participation in Title I2 - Explaining the requirements of Title I3 Explaining your rights as parents to be involvedWhat you will learn What does it mean to be a Title I school? What is the1% Set-Aside for parental involvement? What is the LEA (Local Educational Agency) Title I Plan? What is the LEA Parental Involvement Policy? What is a SIP (School Improvement Plan)? What is the School-Parent Compact? How do I request the qualifications of my childs teacher(s)?What you will learn(Continued) How will I be notified if my child is taught by a teacher who is not Highly Qualified?

How is the Annual Evaluation of the BES Parental Involvement Policy conducted?

How can I be involved in all of these thingsIm learning about? What does it mean to be aTitle I School? Being a Title I school means receiving federal funding (Title I dollars) to supplement the schools existing programs. These dollars are used for Identifying students experiencing academic difficultiesand providing timely assistance to help these studentsmeet the States challenging content standards. Purchasing supplemental staff/programs/materials/supplies Conducting parental Involvement meetings/trainings/activities Recruiting/Hiring/Retaining Highly Qualified Teachers Being a Title I school also means parental involvement andparents rights. What is the BES Title I Plan? The BES Title I Plan addresses how the local educationagency will use Title I funds throughout the school system to supplement instruction for struggling students.

Topics include: Student academic assessments Additional assistance provided struggling students Coordination and integration of federal funds andprograms Parental Involvement Strategies, including the BESParental Involvement Plan.

A copy of BESs Title I Schoolwide Plan is available on our website and in our Media Center. What is a School Improvement Plan? The SIP is your School Improvement Plan and includes: A Needs Assessment and Summary of Data Goals and Strategies to Address Academic Needs of Students Professional Development Needs Coordination of Resources/Comprehensive BudgetWhat is the 1% set-aside and howare parents involved? Any LEA with a Title I Allocation exceeding $500,000 isrequired by law to set aside 1% of its Title I allocation forparental involvement.

Of that 1%, 5% may be reserved at the LEA for system-wideinitiatives related to parental involvement. The remaining95% must be allocated to all Title I schools in the LEA. Peach County gives 100% of the 1% to the six Title I Schools. For FY15, BES will receive $2,283 of the 1% Set-Aside to implement school-level parent involvement.

Therefore, each Title I school receives its portion of the 95%to implement school-level parental involvement.

How is the evaluation of the BES Parental Involvement Plan conducted? Evaluation Requirements Conduct annually Conduct with Title I parents Analyze Content and Effectiveness of the current plan Identify Barriers to parental involvement Data/Input may include Parent Survey (Required) Parent Advisory Committees Process and Timeline The evaluation helps to revise the planWhat is our schools Designation Status?Schools are no longer identified as in improvement.Only Reward, Priority, Focus, and Alert Schools are identified. Title I schools with this status are required to implement specific programs and interventions.

BES has not been given a school designation this year which means we are continuing to provide quality education for all our students.
