Dale Earnhardt
Ralph Dale Earnhardt, Sr., known to the world as Dale Earnhardt or “The Intimidator”, was born on April 29, 1951.
Dale’s dad was a stock car driver, in the 1950s and 1960s.
Dale’s grew up in Mooresville, NC, which is close to the home of Nascar in Charlotte, NC.
As a teenager he worked on cars with his dad.
In the beginning…
As Dale was trying to get his racing career started, he had his first child, Kerry.
Dale began his Nascar career in 1975 and he was also rookie of the year in 1979.
While Dale was working on his career he had three other children: Kelley, Dale,and Taylor.
Kerry is a stock car driver, Kelley drove race cars for a little while, Dale Jr. is a Nascar driver, and Taylor didn’t drive at all.
Getting Started
Some of Dale’s accomplishments include:
Winning 7 Nascar Championships
Finally winning the Daytona 500 after trying 20 times
Dale was inducted into the Nascar Hall of Fame and listed as one of the 50 greatest drivers of all time
He survived a deadly crash in 1997 to come back in 1998 and start a winning streak.
