Project Description

This is a project designed to ensure connectivity between persons within and beyond a disaster area. It will ensure communication on the physical conditions of all victims within the disaster effected area to the government and their kin and friends who are concerned about them.


Objectives

Dependable alternative to current communication network infrastructure

Notification to all concerned parties.Ability for end users to register themselves.


Background

In the 21st century smart phones, internet connectivity and social media has become part of our life. During the 2015 Nepal earthquake Facebook initiated a program to mark yourself safe.

Establishing a WAN through short range Bluetooth.


Problem Statements

Network connectivity may be lost because of damage to the physical infrastructure.

With all free service over the internet Facebook can chose to shut down its services without any prior notice or even charge for their service during any specified period of time.


Goals Short term goal:Create a demo of the proposed system. (Started 30/10/15 Complete 15/01/16)

Medium term goal:Demonstrate a functional system to concerned government agencies

Long tem goal:Copy the National ID Card database.Modify it with all necessary field Use the modified database as the primary databaseImplement functional system nationwide.Regular checking and maintenance for implemented system throughout the SDLC


Problems in finding partners

Due to the current administrative structure ofBangladesh, it may be difficult to organize a

meeting with concerned government agencies.

I will explore potential for interested city authorities


Target Groups This designed system will be focus on people

effectedby the disaster, their immediate kin and the

centralGovernment.

A community or nation will be found who is willing to be

the proof of the principle, and a trial area


Activities For the development of the demo RAD software development methodology willbe used.

Rapid Action Development (RAD) is a fast way of developing a software by trialand error method. The primary requirements are collected and developmentstarts. Each module is displayed to the client after development for verificationand validation.

1. Development of the Demo system2. Verified by an independent software quality

assurance (SQA)3. Formal demonstration to government

officials and IT firms4. Acceptance of system for implementation5. Implementation of system 6. Proper functioning system during disaster.

Current Patterns

The current trend in the industry is to develop web

based systems mostly using Kerberos security protocol

or Two Factor authentication for any data transactions

with confidential data.


Social Conflicts

A large number of the population may be not be willing

to memories their National ID Card numbers.

People might not be willing to share their details with

3rd party development team, unless authorized by the

government.
