By Mohammad abbas

In this presentation i will be talking to you about all the sectors which are involved

within business

Business is any activity that has been carried out for the purpose of making profit in many cases•It is a group which consists of people selling goods or providing a service and in many cases there objective is to make profit but some businesses don’t make profit.

•Some businesses such as Warburton’s and Manchester airport employ over 1000 people and in some cases it can only be 2 people who are involved in a business such as selling items in there house and making profit.

Businesses exist to provide goods or services to clients.

GOODS SERVICES

Goods are products such as mobiles or cars.

Services are non-physical items - such as hairdressing, opticians and doctors

•Businesses buy the products they need from manufacturers and then sell it to the customers.

•Businesses sell to customers in markets. This can be a high street shop or a website.

•Businesses make profit by selling items at a price that more than covers the costs

Businesses are separated into 2 different sectors called the private sector and the public sector.

Private sector Public sector

The businesses which are categorizes in the private sector are businesses controlled and ran by certain individuals, these include businesses such as take aways and mobile phone shops.

Businesses which are located in the public sector are businesses which are controlled by the government, these include businesses such as schools and universities.

The public sector and governmentThe public sector is owned by government and offer services such as education and comes out of our tax.

20.4% of the working population now works in the public sector

THE 3 SECTORS...

Primary sectorThe primary sector of consists of raw form of materials such as crops from the earth. The primary sector includes the production of raw material and basic foods. These include: mining, forestry, farming, grazing, hunting and gathering, fishing, and quarrying.

In the UK in 1,800 most people would have been employed in the primary sector.

The UK has a low proportion of people working in primary industry. This is partly because of mechanization. Machinery has taken over jobs in the primary sector.

Secondary sectorThe secondary sector of the economy manufactures finished goods. All of manufacturing, processing, and construction lies within the secondary sector. Activities associated with the secondary sector include metal working, engineering industry and construction.

Businesses in the secondary sector consist of the primary sector but then add more value to it such as petrol.

The number of people employed in the secondary sector is falling. This is because fewer people are needed to work in factories as robots are taking over jobs. In the uk, 37% of the population works in the secondary sector.

Tertiary sectorThe tertiary sector of the economy is the service industry. This sector provides services to the general population and to businesses. Activities associated with this sector include retail and wholesale sales, transportation and distribution, entertainment (movies, television, radio, music, theatre, etc.), restaurants, insurance, banking, healthcare, and law. McDonalds, hsbc, busses, subway and airports are all part of this sector as they provide services. The tertiary sector is the main growth area. Most people work in hospitals, schools, offices and financial services.

From all the sectors, the tertiary sector is the popular one as it has 67.8% of the population working for it.

The economy is made up of 3 parts: government, business and people. We pay the government tax which provides us essential services such as education and health

Over the past years specific changes have been taken place in different type of sectors. Some areas have grown and some have declined.

Public sector Tertiary sector primary secondary

The Tertiary sector is growing as there are more products to sell

and services to offer.

The primary sector is in decline because resources are quickly falling.

The secondary sector is in decline because distributors are finding different countries that offer cheap

employees to create the products they need.
