Allies: United States, the British Commonwealth, France, and the Netherlands
Japan Fought in
Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Japan, and other Pacific islands
Fought with massive Navy warships and new high tech airplanes
Island hopping strategy Airplanes and warships were equipped
with bigger weapons than any war before them
The allies started a counter offensive after Japan took over their territories and slowly gained back their territory
Important battles Pearl Harbor Coral Sea Midway Tarawa Truk Phillipine Sea Okinawa Iwo Jima Over 350,000 Americans soldiers died Over 2,100,000 Japanese soldiers died Japan surrendered August 15th 1945
