Slide 6
BILLIONS OF DOLLARS The government plans to spend up to $4.5
billion to border security, including yet more drones, fences and
guards with guns. In 2007, there were 15,000 Border Patrol agents;
today there are 21,000. Ten Predator drones patrol the skies,
tower-mounted cameras dot the deserts and ground sensors monitor
land movements.
Slide 7
IS IT WORTH IT? Is spending billions of dollars from preventing
illegal immigrants to come to this country good for the economy?
Sure, spending all the money does prevent illegal immigrants from
crossing the boarder. Although this can be bad for the
economy.
Slide 8
PERCENT OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS IN THE UNITED STATES
Slide 9
WHY DO WE NEED ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS? Illegal immigrants work jobs
that no other people would want to do. They work in the fields,
construction, house keepers, landscapers etc Illegal immigrants are
hard working people that will work any job to put food on the table
for their families and to provide shelter.
Slide 10
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GET RID OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS? If all the
illegal immigrants were gone then their wouldnt be people to pick
crops and to do other jobs people dont want to do. Crop owners
would lose a lot of money if they had no one to pick their crops.
Agriculture and the economy will go down because crops arent being
picked. Stores wouldnt be stocked with fruits or vegetables.
Slide 11
ARE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS GOOD FOR THE ECONOMY? Yes, illegal
immigrants are good for the economy. Illegal immigrants contribute
to the economy as tax payers, workers, and consumers. They make up
5% percent of the total U.S. labor force, and at least a quarter of
the workers in industries like construction, agriculture,
groundskeeping, meat processing, and textile production.
Slide 12
ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION AND THE ECONOMY Having a lager number of
illegal immigrants in the country is beneficial because they
contribute to our economy. If we were to get rid of all the illegal
immigrants the economy will weaken.
