Step 1: Gather the supplies you will need for this project

- 6x6 inch sheets of origami paper- One black marker

Step 2: Select two sheets of paper that are the color you want to use for the cat head and body.


Step 3: Set one sheet aside for later use and place other sheet of paper color side down.

Step 4: Fold the sheet on one diagonal axis, making sure to crease well.

Step 5: Unfold the paper and fold along the other axis without creasing the line. Only pinch the very center of the line to mark the center point of the paper.



Step 6: Unfold the paper and lay flat. Fold the top tip down to meet the center point of the crease that you have created from your last fold.

Step 7: Leaving the previous fold down, fold the top section down over the center crease created by your first fold.


Step 8: Fold the right tip (marked “B” below) to meet point “A”, then fold tip “C” to meet point “A”.

Step 9: Fold the right and left tips upward to form the ears for the cat.

Step 10: Fold the center top tip downward to fit within the V of the ears.


Step 11: Flip the paper over and fold the bottom tip upwards as shown below.


Step 12: Take the tip of the flap you have just folded up and fold the tip down to create the cat nose.


Step 13: Draw the eyes for the cat in the size and shape that you want.


Step 14: Set aside the cat head that you have created and grab the second sheet of paper that you selected earlier.


Step 15: Lay your second sheet of paper out color side down.


Step 16: Fold this sheet on one diagonal axis, making sure to crease well.


Step 17: Unfold the paper and lay flat. Fold both sides towards the center crease.



Step 18: Now fold the paper in half, down the seam of the first fold you created.


Step 19: Rotate the paper as shown below. Make a fold where indicated below, making sure to crease well.



Step 20: Make another fold as indicated below, making sure to crease well.


Step 21: Unfold the paper from the previous two folds you have created. Using the 2 creases made by these folds, bring the right tip to over to the left tip and squash the paper down.

Step 22: Fold upward at the point shown below.

Step 23: Fold the tail in half by folding the left flap over to the right.


Step 24: Stand the body up as shown below and puff out the main body portion of the paper.


Step 25: Pick up the cat head face down and puff out the section that will be mounted onto the body of the cat.

The cat head will hang on the body from this pocket.


Step 26: Hang the cat head onto the top point of the cat body using the pocket indicated in the previous step.


You now have your own origami cat!
