cottage and his parents died. He was a thief and an orphan. He was alone…

On the voyage, the passengers would stay at the deck underneath the deck. They were very

bored there. Captain Smith was arrested for plotting against Captain Newport , The leader

of the expedition.

When the passengers land, they are on a great land. One night Native Americans

attack and they scare them away with their cannons.

John Smith made peace with Chief Powhattan after being captured. Polcahantas saved him before his execution. After this, the Indians

were helpful, and played a big part in the survival of Jamestown.

Soon after this famous peace, John Smith became the leader of the colony. He did not

believe in the lacking of work by the ‘gentlemen’ and made a rule that everyone

but those sick will work for their food. Unlike the nobles, he worked next to the men, he

shared their labor.

Soon later, John Smith’s leadership came to an end. He got in an accident as he was on his way, causing a sack of gun powder to explode

next to him as he slept. His leg was seared, and he was to head for England to care for his

wounds. Before he left, he freed Samuel so that he would not be forced into slavery to a

gentleman.

Samuel escaped to a new camp far away from Jamestown. The camp was a carpenter camp

and they had their own animals. Samuel saves his friends from coming to Jamestown, but

you will have to read the book to find out!!! ( ;

Samuel started the journey a lonely homeless thief. At first, it didn’t change. But throughout the book many dramatic changes occurred in

his life. He began to realize that he had a home and a family, and opened up for the first

time in years. Samuel was living the life he always dreamed of living. 1607 was the

greatest time of his life.
