Thoughts on Change“It is not so much that we’re afraid of change
Or so in love with the old ways
But it’s that place in-between that we fear
It’s like being between trapezes’
It’s like Linus when his blanket is in the dryer.
There is nothing to hold on to.”by Marilyn Ferguson

What novel are we reading?
by Johann Wyss
Students in grades 6 – 12 will participate in listening to their teacher read The Swiss Family Robinson. During the reading period, students will attend to the reading of short passes from the book each day. In addition, students will:identify new vocabulary words while using various visual and augmentative strategies;recognize the setting of the story;respond to simple questions related to the selected passage;practice their communication skills using their speech, visual strategies, augmentative, and assistive technology; andparticipate in a summarizing strategy of each day’s passage.
At home, you may want to talk with your child about book elements such as the setting, characters, and main idea. If available, you might also enjoy watching the movie which is based on this book with your child. If you have any questions regarding the reading of this novel, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher. Thank you for your help and support of our instructional efforts! Our parent’s are simply the best!
