The First Americans

The first people to occupy the area of the united states were the Native Americans .They were believed to arrive crossing a land bridge between Siberia and Alaska.

European Exploration

In 1539 Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto landed on the coast of Florida and headed north to Georgia on the search of gold. Throughout the journey de Soto and his army killed over thousands of Native Americans.

European Impact Explorers changed the Native Americans lives

because they have never seen white men before nor the huge horses they rode on.

Colonization

French and Indian War

France and Great Britain fought four wars in North American to gain control over the continent this known as the French and Indian war . This war went on from 1754- 1763. The British won the Battle of Quebec and drove the French out of the continent.

John Adams played a major role in the independence of America, he was a federalist.

Another who played a major role in gaining the independence of America is Thomas Jefferson , he wrote the Declaration Independence

The American Revolution

One advantage the British had over the colonist is that the soldiers were well-equipped and had a large and powerful navy.

An advantage the colonists had over the British is that they fighting for their hometown and alliances.

Southern states split from the U.S was because they wanted slavery and northern states didn’t , which lead to the Civil War . The Civil War went on for four years until the confederate states surrendered and slavery was outlawed.

After the Civil War

Slavery was outlawed, but the newly freed slaves lives were no fairy tale . Even though there weren’t slaves they still faced hardship like segregation. Blacks had to attend different schools, libraries, restaurants, etc and if Blacks did anything to rebel against these rules they would be severely beaten, lynched , or put in a jail.

World War I

World war I was a result of the death of Arch duke Franz Ferdinand.
