What Random Acts of Kindness have you witnessed over the Christmas break? We love being a kindness focused school! Thursday 19 January is Census Day. Some of our School funding will be based on events of this day, a key one being linked to hot school dinners for children in KS1 and Reception. If your child has opted in for a hot school meal, it is vital that they eat the hot lunch on 19 January and do not have a packed lunch instead. Please can you help us with this, as any child who has opted in to have hot meals but doesn’t take a plate of food on this day, will count against our figures and we will not receive funding to provide them with their entitled Free School Meal. We will have to start taking dinner registers and checking lunchboxes so that the School is not covering this cost. Currently we are averaging 40 meals not being eaten every day and thrown away. This poses a significant cost to the School and we will need to take it from the Curriculum Budget. It is also a shocking waste of food when so many children around the world are starving. Please help us! Thank you. Please can we try to vacate the playground area promptly at the end of the day so that gates can be locked to retain security. Also, there are still a number of children using their scooters and bikes on school property at the beginning and end of the day. To ensure younger siblings remain safe, please remind your children to stay off their scooters/bikes until they are out of the gates. Thank you for your support with this. There were 15 Christmas trees in the last newsletter! There are lots of exciting sports events coming up this term including Football, Hockey, Cricket and Basketball. A squad list for each event will also be up on the sport information board in the corridor for the children to see.
