Ms.Kirti Seth, FutureSkills, Industry Lead, NASSCOM and Mr.Vanraj Thambi,

Delivery Head, Wipro visited SKCET campus today to pioneer the Wipro-

FutureSkills foundation course. It is a joint initiative by NASSCOM and Wipro to

impart digital skills to the students‟ community as part of Wipro‟s CSR programme –

Talent Next which aims to enhance the quality of Engineering Education. As a pilot

initiative, it has been launched nationwide at 20 Engineering Institutions and SKCET

is one among them.

WIPRO-NASSCOM FUTURESKILLS : FACULTY INTERACTION

Mr.Vanraj Thambi, Delivery Head, Wipro and Ms.Krithi Seth, FutureSkills Industry

lead, NASSCOM had a prolific discussion with the HODs and Wipro PRP certified

faculty members on AI and Big Data Analytics programme and the advantage of

using FutureSkills platform.





WIPRO - NASSCOM FUTURESKILLS :STUDENT INTERACTION

Mr.Vanraj Thambi, Delivery Head, Wipro Technologies delivered an insight on

the Wipro-FutureSkills foundation course and demonstrated the Wipro

FutureSkills portal. 1553 pre - final year students received NASSCOM

FutureSkills login from Wipro and initiated their learning journey. Two

foundation courses on AI and Big Data were assigned initially to all the

students.

Ms.Kirti Seth , FutureSkills, Industry Lead, NASSCOM interacted with the

Pre- final year students and deliberated on the emerging technologies like AI,

IoT, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Cyber security and technical skills necessary

for the millennial generation students to be Industry-ready.





VIRTUSA - INTERACTION WITH PLACED STUDENTS

Mr.Sridharan, Director-Delivery, Mr.Venkatakrishnan, Lead consultant,

Mr.Kirthivasan Sivaramakrishnan, HR Lead India Campus Hiring and Mr.Naveen

William, HR-Recruiter visited our campus and had an interactive session with the

Virtusa placed students on the trainings provided at Virtusa.





INDUSTRY CONNECT -VIRTUSA

Mr.Kirthivasan Sivaramakrishnan, HR Lead India Campus Hiring interacted with

the Pre - final year students of CSE, IT, and ECE on the Virtusa Hackathon

<Codelite> and also discussed about the current Industry needs.

Deep Vision Tech, a Machine learning based technical start-up company from

Bangalore visited Mechatronics Engineering Department for Internship recruitment

on 27-01-2020. Following an initial interaction by the Managing Director of the

company Mr. Jayasudan and the subsequent interviews, the following students were

PROJECT PRESENTATION AT IMPTEX EXPO DAY- 4

On behalf of SKCET, Dr. Rajendran and Mr. Pranesh from Mechanical Engineering

Department have interacted with Shri S Saravanan, Deputy Manager, SKF India

Limited, Bangalore at IMTEX- 2020. The interaction was about the replacement of

steel material by composite material in gear components.





EEE – LAURELS AT INDIAN KART RACE

SKCET wins Runner- up Championship and Team Future Award at

Indian Kart Race, Bhopal.

The students team Quasar's Hypernova comprising of 22 students from EEE,

MCT, Mech and CSE won the Runners-up Award with a cash Prize of Rs.30,000

at Indian Karting Race by Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers(ISIE) at

Bhopal. The team also bagged the Team Future Award of Rs.10,000/- among 95

different teams from across the country in the Grand Finale Event.





CSBS – STUDENT LAUREL AT HACKVERSE 2020

Bhavik Kumar . N, NISHIT . M and IMRON KHAN. S from II CSE C(TCS) have

been awarded as the „Best UI/UX‟ and „Blockchain Implementation‟ with cash

prize of Rs.1500/- and Jetbrains T-Shirts and Matic T-Shirts goodies at

„HACKVERSE 2020‟, held at National Institute of Technology, Surathkal,

Mangalore on 25th and 26th of January 2020.





MECH – SEMINAR ON HIGHER EDUCATION

Mr.Sayed Osama from Star United education Ltd delivered a Seminar on „Higher

Education opportunities in Russia‟ to our Second year Mechanical Engineering

students. Students attended the seminar and gained awareness on the latest

specializations and courses available in Russian Universities.





EEE– SWACHHATA PAKHWADA OUTREACH EVENTS






Department of EEE conducted Swachhata Pakhwada 2020 activities in a befitting

manner for the focused participation of the adopted villages of SKCET. The

cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene drive for the students of Government Middle

School, Pachapalayam, Coimbatore was conducted along with competitions on

Drawing, Poster Making, Slogan writing, Essay writing and Speech.










ECE – PG PROJECT REVIEW

PG project review for the students of M.E Communication Systems was

conducted. The problem and scope of the research projects were discussed and

pointers on technical refinement were deliberated by the project mentors.





IT- STUDENT ACCOLADE AT GYAN MITRA 2020

The Students of III Year, Information Technology have bagged the First and

Second Prizes in Line Follower Robot event and Hackathon 2020 event held at

National Level Techno - Management Symposium GYAN MITRA 2020 organized by

Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi.

Catherine Chandralekha T from II CSE C(TCS) has successfully completed an

online course „Introduction to Enterprise Computing‟, certified by IBM through

Coursera.

CSBS – STUDENT CERTIFICATION

Ms. G. Saranya, Assistant Professor, ECE, has successfully completed the online

MOOC course offered by Intel titled “AI from the data center to the edge – An

Optimized Path using Intel Architecture”.

CSE – DEPARTMENT MEETING

Dr.K.Sasi Kala Rani, Head of the Department, CSE chaired the meeting with faculty

members on 25.01.2020. The agenda was on NBA File Verification and NBA Files

completion Status.





R&D – FACULTY RESEARCH PUBLICATION: CIVIL

Dr.P.Saravanakumar, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering has

published a research paper titled “Behaviour of Strengthened Masonry Arches with

Steel Reinforced Grout” in International Journal of Scientific & Technology

Research by publication which is indexed in Scopus.





IT – FACULTY PROGRESSION

Mr.Syed Muzamil Basha, Assistant Professor, Department of Information

Technology has successfully completed his Ph.D Viva voce examination at Vellore

Institute of Technology, Vellore. The title of his thesis is “A Study to Incorporate

User Preference in Aspect Based Document Level Sentiment Analysis”.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS 2020

FLAG HOISTING

It was an aura of patriotic fervor at SKCET yesterday owing to the celebrations of

71st Republic Day. Our beloved Principal Madam hoisted the national tricolor

flag and also took the ceremonial salute of the parade by NCC students. Joyfully,

the faculty and students of SKCET proclaimed the pledge and conveyed their

greetings by distributing and wearing the tri-colour flag badges. The spirit of

nationalism was heightened by the cultural performances and literary recital of

our students. The celebrations concluded with the National Anthem and

distribution of sweets and savories to all.
