CHOOSE THE AWNING THAT‘S RIGHT FOR YOU!

If you are a comfort enthusiast, you are likely to opt for an electric awning with support legs, which slides out at the touch of a button in a matter of seconds. You can have a model with or without support legs. The version without legs is especially popular, because there’s nothing in the way, and all of the space in front of the vehicle can be used. If you prefer manual crank operation to be independent in terms of energy supply, you will pick a classic, manual awning model with support legs. There are good arguments for each system version so to make your decision easier, we have put together all important facts in the table below.

All manual and electric Dometic awnings with support legs are fitted with the Easy Lock Flipper. The patented system allows simple and safe set-up and adjustment of the support legs. When the awning is extended, the inclination angle of the front rail adjusts automatically to provide convenient access to the support legs. The awning can easily be set up without requiring a ladder. After use the awning is stored away safely in the front rail.

To make sure that no recreational vehicle needs to remain without an awning, the Dometic range includes awnings for wall mounting as well as for roof mounting. Which fastening method is applicable in your case, will depend on the construction of your vehicle. We recommend you to play safe and seek advice from an expert! Your Dometic dealer should be able to advise you on this matter and will be able to tell you where and how your awning can be fitted.

A TIP WORTH KNOWING: As the vehicle has to bear the entire weight of the awning, our legless models are safely fastened in place with a full-length installation rail. Contact your dealer to find out the suitable mounting points on your vehicle!


IMPECCABLE INSTALLATION RESULTS WITH VEHICLE-SPECIFIC ADAPTERSVehicle walls and roofs are, among other things, design elements. That means they can have different shapes. With a comprehensive range of adapters Dometic ensures that the vehicle and the awning are perfectly coordinated, so you will get impeccable installation results.

WHAT ABOUT THE AWNING SIZE AND WEIGHT? The size of the awning depends on the vehicle length and weight is another factor that needs to be taken into account. The longer the awning is the heavier it will be, of course. The spectrum ranges from 25 kg for the smallest models to 50 kg for the big ones. That means Dometic awnings are still lighter and more compact than comparable products of our competitors.

EFFECTIVE AGAINST WIND AND WEATHER

GOLDEN RULE: NEVER LEAVE THE AWNING UNATTENDED FOR A LONG TIME!You should by no means leave your awning unattended for a long time. After all, it’s hard to predict what the weather’s going to do in your absence. So, before you are heading for the town or beach, remember to roll up the awning before you leave!

The only exception to the rule is when you have set up an awning tent (MyRoom or CampRoom) and thus created a sturdy, weather-proof construction. Read more on this on p. 14.

You want to use your awning not only when the sun is shining, but also when the weather is unstable. Aware of this, we have added smart technology and practical accessories to make our products weather-resistant. Showers of rain and gusts of wind are no reason to cancel a barbeque party or cosy get-together, but what happens in heavy rain or stormy weather?

In order to enjoy the comfort of your awning in complete peace of mind, you should know how the weather protection on your awning model works. Which safety features are already included, and what precautions should you take yourself to prevent damage to your awning?


AWNINGS WITH SUPPORT LEGSDometic awnings with support legs should be additionally secured with tie-down straps in stronger wind or rain. The best way to do this is by using our TieDown kit, which is available as an accessory. The adjustable straps can easily be tied down and give a firm hold. They are fitted with coil springs which relieve the strain on the awning in wind.

Our tip: Place one of the support legs deeper down to incline the awning so that the rain water can drain off easily.

AWNINGS WITHOUT SUPPORT LEGS

Our legless premium awnings (PerfectWall PW 3500 and PerfectRoof PR 4500) are protected by an integrated wind sensor. When the sensor is activated, it ensures that the awning retracts automatically when the wind begins to blow – without you or your fellow travellers having to lift a finger.

In case of a longer stay it is worthwhile to anchor the awning firmly to the ground with the WeatherKit supplied with each unit. It gives the awning so much stability that you can switch off the wind sensor without worries. In this way you disable the automatic retraction function, so you can enjoy the shade of your awning at all times, even in changing wind conditions.

A TIP WORTH KNOWING:

If you have a larger awning (4 metres or longer), you should secure the centre section with the tie rod supplied with each unit. This prevents the awning from turning inwards in strong wind. It also avoids sagging of the awning fabric when

water has built up on top in heavy rain. Installation is quick and easy. Simply push the tie rod together, put one end into the cradle on the housing and let the other end click in place in the front rail.

What do you do when the low sun is glaring in, when heavy rain gets under your awning roof from the front or side, or when when you are bothered by passers-by peering in? With our accessory products

SunProtect, RainProtect and Rollo + you are well equipped in such situations. The PerfectWall PW 1750 wall awning already comes with an integrated roller blind.

SUNPROTECT

SunProtect is a transparent screen fabric that lets the light through and keeps the heat out. It is available as a front panel or side panel. The front panel has an extension of 1.40 metres and can be supplied for various awning widths. The side panel can be fitted either to the right or left of the awning.There’s a matching SunProtect for all Dometic awnings. On the models without legs (PW 3500 and PR 4500), the installation has to be done in combination with the WeatherKit.

RAINPROTECT

RainProtect is made from a grey, water- and wind-proof PVC material. Here again, the front and the side panels are available in different sizes. The front panel is non-transparent, the side panels (also suitable for use left or right) have a panoramic window. They extend down to the ground to provide optimal protection against moisture.

ROLLO +

Our accessory product Rollo + is a practical sun and privacy protection blind that can be fitted to the front rail of just about any wall awning in the Dometic range. The Rollo + can be extended to any desired position and conveniently rolled up back in place after use. Would you like to have this convenience feature already integrated in the factory? Check out for our PerfectWall PW 1750 awning, which comes complete with a roller blind integrated in the front rail. The blind is made from a non-transparent, grey fabric and can be positioned to any height. It is fixed to the support legs of the awning, or secured to the ground with pegs.

HOW YOU CREATE ADDITIONAL “LIVING SPACE“


MYROOMThe MyRoom awning tent is tailor-made for our wall awning without support legs, the PerfectWall PW 3500. A patented aluminium rail tensioning system makes attaching it to the awning especially easy. The side elements, windows and door can be rolled up to suit any situation. Mosquito nets and beautiful curtains on the windows keep insects out and give you more privacy.MyRoom is available in two heights and three widths. For installation you require the WeatherKit, which is included as standard with the PW 3500 package. After use, all textile parts and the poles can be compactly stored away in the storage bag.

CAMPROOMIf you have opted for a cassette awning with support legs, our CampRoom is the matching awning tent for you. It is just as comfortable and convenient as the MyRoom, and is extremely quick and easy to set up by only one person. If you cover the underside of the vehicle with a standard supplied skirt you will get a completely waterproof and wind-breaking living space.

The CampRoom is composed of two packages; one for the front (including the skirt, pegs and ropes) and one for the two side panels (including the clamp profiles, pegs and ropes). There’s a practical storage bag for both packages.

FOR AWNINGS WITH SUPPORT LEGS LED STRIPS WITH OR WITHOUT ALUMINIUM PROFILENaturally, all classical awning models can be upgraded with LED lighting. Roof and wall awnings can be fitted with an LED strip on the underside. On wall awnings, the LED strip can be fixed with an aluminium profile to give the optimal angle of illumination. The profile is optionally available with a white or silver finish.

FOR AWNINGS WITHOUT SUPPORT LEGS - LED LIGHT KIT LK 120Our well proven LED light kit, the LK 120, creates a cosy atmosphere under the awning in long nights or on cloudy days. The energy saving LED lighting was specially designed for our two legless awning models (PR 4500 and PW 3500). It consists of a self-adhesive flex strip which is simply cut to the desired length and fitted to the underside of the retractable arm of the awning. The pleasant, warm white light is conveniently switched on via the hand transmitter, and it can even be dimmed.

TIPS AND TRICKS FOR PROPER CLEANING

• Please always make sure that your Dometic awning is clean and as dry as possible before you roll it up. Remove branches, leaves, bird’s dirt and other organic deposits to prevent damage, stains or mould.

• Don’t worry if you have to roll up a wet awning, it won’t do any harm in the short term, because the cloth material is very robust. However, you should use the next occasion to extend it and let it dry. This is especially important before the winter break. A moist awning that remains rolled up for a longer time will develop mould stains, and the awning cloth will fade.

• Never use a high-pressure cleaner or aggressive detergents – they might do severe damage to your awning!

• For thorough manual cleaning we recommend you to use the special awning and canopy cleaner from Dometic.

MAINTENANCE & REPAIRTAKE PLEASURE IN YOUR AWNING FOR A LONG TIME TO COME

Our awnings are made from a high-quality PVC material. UV-resistant, rot-proof and washable, it has all it takes for a long life expectancy. The awning is made from one whole piece of fabric, so there are no seams.

If you want to take pleasure in your awning for many years to come, you should regularly clean it. Best of all, use our special awning cleaner, it is perfectly formulated for the material and quickly removes even the most persistent stains.

TIPP: DO YOU WANT A NEW AWNING CLOTH?

Does the Dometic awning on your “new” used campervan looks as if it was not carefully maintained? Would you like another cloth colour, for a change? Or do you want to clean the awning cloth on the floor, or have it cleaned by a specialist?

No problem whatsoever, Dometic awning cloths can be detached and, naturally, they can be replaced as well. We recommend you to put the “renovation” into the hands of your Dometic service partner. He is well versed in this matter and will get the job done for you in a minimum of time.

Dometic uses a very hard-wearing material for its awning cloth. After all, it has to resist wind and weather as well as tough mechanical loads. Even so, tears and holes are a fact of life when you are on the move with a camper vehicle. In most cases the damage results from improper or careless use – e.g. a sharp stone or a branch of a tree that was rolled in with the awning accidentally.If something like that happens, you should act quickly, fix the damage before it gets worse! The best remedy to use is the practical Repair Kit from Dometic, which should always be included in your travel equipment.
