What to Expect

Country ProfileJamaica is the largest English-speaking island

in the Western Caribbean and the third largest overall. Its proximity to the United States and the Panama Canal, and its historic and emerging rela-tionship with the Latin American bloc, combine to make it an excellent location for trading with the rest of the Western Hemisphere and beyond.

With a population of 2.7 million, Jamaica offers a competitively priced and multi-skilled labour force. The country boasts an open and diverse economy with increasing potential and interna-tional acclaim for innovation, quality, creativity and bold energy, with a diverse manufacturing industry.

Consistent with the priority placed on maritime infrastructure for global trade, Jamaica has devel-oped world-class port facilities. Expansion pro-grammes targeting Kingston Container Terminal (KCT) have allowed the Port of Kingston to main-tain its competitiveness as a regional hub port. The country is also well-served by two modern international airports, well-developed infrastruc-ture and an abundance of natural resources.
