The 2014 Amelia Island Jazz Festival concerts promise to explode with exciting swinging jazz, played with passion, expertise and soul by many of today’s leading jazz artists. This year we are proud to welcome two headlining Jazz Superstars: the multiple Grammy Award nominated jazz trumpeter and composer Randy Brecker and one of the hot new breed of Hammond B3 organ players Tony Monaco.

provides a rich, diverse cultural offering to the Amelia Island area by exposing thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds to the sounds, excitement and vitality of great jazz — a uniquely American art form.

Music is performed by jazz greats as well as fresh, up-and-coming young talent.

Performances are staged in several venues around Amelia Island; the beautiful OMNI Hotel and Resorts Amelia Island Plantation, Sandy Bottoms, David’s Restaurant and Amelia Park.

The cornerstone of the Festival is its educational programs led by Les DeMerle, the Festival’s Artistic Director. These programs include Jazz in Schools, Jazz for Kids and Jazz for Seniors.

The Festival’s educational programs culminate in the Amelia Island Jazz Festival Scholarship. This financial award goes to deserving high school musicians who demonstrate strong potential to perform jazz at the collegiate level.

Tony Monaco is one of the hot new breed of Hammond B3 organ players making the jazz scene these days. Influenced by Jimmy Smith, Hank Marr, Don Patterson, Jimmy McGriff, and Richard “Groove” Holmes, Tony is now taking the B3 to new exciting dimensions. Tony’s fourth album “A New Generation: Paesanos on the New B3”, features the brand new Hammond B3 and special guests The Joey DeFrancesco Trio. Festivals, concert halls and jazz clubs all agree – Tony Monaco knows how to excite a crowd.

Jazz trumpeter, composer and multiple Grammy Award winning artist, Randy Brecker has helped shape the sound of jazz, R&B and rock for more than four decades. His trumpet and flugelhorn performances have graced hundreds of albums by a wide range of artists from James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen and Parliament/Funkadelic to Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, Jaco Pastorius and Frank Zappa.
