mencing at 6.30pm.

Ride-a-thon What a fantastic day we had! It got a little warm in the last

hour or so but we had plenty of water and oranges to keep us going!

A huge thank you to all our parent helpers, especially Rachel

Finn and Christina Mildren who sat out in the sun serving

oranges and water.

We were so lucky to have two police officers escort us down to the Rams Oval. Also the police talk on Thursday was

most beneficial for the students. They all have a better

Aspire Me, Art Camp On Thursday and Friday this week, Paige Wesierski and Alexis

Hattwell will represent our school at this year’s Art Camp be-ing held in Moulamein. As in previous years, the range of ex-

pert art tuition available for these students is exceptional and the art work produced is traditionally quite amazing.

School Book Fair Our major school book fair for this year will be held during the

week starting Monday 28th November 2016 (Week 8).

Students will make a wish list at the beginning of that week

and books will be available to be purchased on Wednesday 30th November and Thursday 1st December.

The Deniliquin Newsagency are supplying the books again this

year with many great books for Christmas to be included.

We thank everyone in advance for their support of this event

as it provides our school with additional books and resources for our students and is also a great opportunity for parents to

do some Christmas shopping.

Many thanks to Mrs Druitt and Mrs Barlow for her organisation

of this special event.

Beautiful Girls / Awesome Blokes Program This week our Beautiful Girls and Awesome Blokes looked at

self-control. We looked at 5 points to help with self control.

1. Planning-set goals on what you want to achieve. 2. Rules-rules give us guidelines on what is expected.

3. Challenges-know what things test your self control.

4. Consequences-what happens if you don’t show self con-trol.

5. Practising-use every opportunity to practise self control.

Year 6 to 7 Transition A reminder to Year 6 students that they will be participating in

a full day orientation at Deniliquin High School on Tuesday 22nd November. Full information went home last week to

students.

Students are to make their own way to and from Deni High in

the same way they intend to next year. The day will run from 9.00am—3.09pm, with roll call occurring in the Multi Purpose

Centre. Students will require to bring their own recess and lunch for the day (no food will be provided), however the

school canteen will be available to purchase if they need to. Principals’ Network Meeting

Principals from across our network met in Deniliquin last Fri-

day for a day of professional learning and sharing. The day focused on looking at the current educational reforms that

seek to prepare each and every student for effective learning for life.

Schools are working to embed informed and responsive teach-ing practices that help every child achieve proficiency in litera-

cy and numeracy. Principals had the opportunity to share and evaluate the strategies and plans of evidence-based teaching

and learning that our group of schools are using to achieve

this. At Edward PS, our results in value-adding on student achievements are exceptionally pleasing and in looking to-

wards 2017, we will continue to look at ways of collaborating within and between schools to address our specific as well as

the network priorities.

Big Bash Cricket This year’s annual Big Bash events are on next Wednesday

23 Nov for students in years 3/4 and the 5/6 event is sched-uled for Thursday 24 Nov. There will be a $4 payment re-

quired. Notes will accompany students home shortly.

Staff Professional Learning After school today, teachers and support staff will complete

the practical component of the mandatory training in CPR, which is required each year and which is conducted in their

own time. On-line training in emergency care and anaphy-laxis has already been completed. Teachers and support

staff are once again thanked for their ongoing obligation to their role and responsibilities in the school and the commit-

ment that is given to the care of all students at this school.
