Open Air Theatre
This year has been a record breaking year for Scarborough Open Air Theatre.
Changes to the venue took place in January 2018 when the lake directly in front of the stage
was removed and replaced with a permanent decking. This increased the venue capacity to over
8,000 giving the ability to attract bigger acts.
This year’s line-up has been bigger and better than ever with a record breaking 16 acts, 17 if
you include James Arthur twice, with record breaking crowds of over 90,000 the venue has
attracted concert goers from all over the country.
The venue is now well established within the music industry and the caliber of acts this season
shows the growing popularity of the venue among the stars.
In addition the Free Summer Shows and Wrestling have run again this year to growing
audiences.
Peasholm Park
The Park opened this year with the newly built boat deck and Buttercup Kiosk. The
improvements to the Kiosk involved removing the old dated building and replacing it with a
new fresh building in keeping with the Oriental theme of the much loved Park.
In addition this year we have been trialing new summer shows and more free entertainment
with parades and treasure hunts which have been a huge success.
There are more exciting developments planned for the park over the coming years.
