Courses

The Business School includes various courses and international students can combine those courses

from the different study fields. The letters G, B, O, T indicate in this course guide which subjects are

taught in which study field.

Study fields:

G = General ( mix of Business, Office and Tourism Management students)

B = Business Management

O = Office Management

T = Tourism and Leisure Management

The courses are listed in alphabetical order for each study field.

The combination of courses can be restricted by planning issues if you choose courses out of different

study fields. Overlaps can be solved at the start of the semester.

The combination of courses can be restricted by planning issues.

Language courses: exchange students must include in their application a document stating their

actual level of the chosen language.

Course objectives This language course ‘Dutch for foreign students’ focuses on the basic

language skills one needs to survive in a ‘Dutch speaking region’.

Course Content Gradually your competence and confidence in speaking, reading and

writing Dutch will be built up, starting from the day to day life. ICT is

used in order to give everybody the opportunity to follow his/her own

tempo.

Communication exercises in and outside the classroom are very

important in this course.

Course title EMERGING MARKETS 1: LATIN & SOUTH-AMERICA

Course objectives Know the region form a business point of view

1. Student is able to locate Latin America on the world map en knows the economic, demographic, cultural, social and political history. 2. Student is able to find and use reliable sources regarding socio-economic and political status of Latin American countries - even after his/her studies, the student can consult these sources on a regular basis to keep up to date with trends and changes on these markets. 3. Student is able to analyse the individual country report of Latin American countries and make a SWOT of these countries in comparison with other emerging markets of the Global South (including China), but also with USA, EU and Flanders. 4. Student is able to estimate advantages and risks for a Flemish product or service SME to export or outsource to one of these countries.

5. Student is able to take a business case and export it to a Latin American

country, using country analysis, swots, pestels,etc
