The Business Office Director is responsible for the daily accounting functions and assuring that all financial systems are in place and operating properly. Preparation, publication and maintenance of budge reports, fiscal liaison with federal, state, foundations, corporations, individuals and area funding authorities are under this position. This includes all accounting of NICC funds, all internal controls and direct supervision of business office staff. .SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Under the direct supervision of the College President, the Business Office Director performs the following duties: 1. Liaison with federal, state and local government authorities relative to all college fiscal matters 2. Assist with the planning, preparation, and management of the annual capital and operating budgets 3. Development, maintenance, and evaluation of all financial accounting and record systems, including payroll 4. Maintain the finance database including the input of data, reconciliations 5. Reconcile bank statements on a monthly basis, at minimum 6. Balance the general ledger on a monthly basis, at minimum 7. Manage and reconcile all funds associated federal agenciesgrant management systems 8. Prepare and complete data entry for all internal audits. 9. Manage annual College audit, including the gathering of data, communication with external auditing firm, communication with College President, Leadership Team 10. Management of investments, securities, trusts, endowments, and capitals 11. Management of risk-reduction and insurance programs 12. Perform, review and present financial analysis reports to Board of Trustees, Finance Committee and Audit Committee 13. Management of all financial operations of the College 14. Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting Required, MBA Preferred or level

of experience in related field, work as senior level finance position

Three to five experience in budgeting, planning, and accounting procedures

Two to five years of experience in financial leadership role

Experience in Abila MIP Fund Accounting software application strongly preferred

Experience in higher education and/or non-profit is preferred

Experience in preparing for external audit process performed by outside contractor’s

Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to see the College vision as well as the day-to-

day operational issues

Ability to interact with the Board of Directors

Strong management and people skills with ability to build relationships and achieve

results through others in a cross-functional team environment

Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills

Possess interpersonal skills that excel in cultural sensitivities and respect for differences

Advance skills in Microsoft Excel and Access

Experience in working with Native American institution and culture

Demonstrated leadership with integrity

Ability to negotiate contracts and agreements
