1) Define Ethics-Ethics is the branch of philosophy that involves systematizing, defending, and recommending concepts of right and wrong conduct.

2) In your own words, what are Business Ethics?-Business ethics is the standard to which an individual makes right decisions pertaining to the business standpoint.

3) Find a related article regarding a violation of business ethics (a scandal, breach of contract, or lawsuit for example) and write about it here. Thompson initially stated in his resume that he had a degree in computer science, along with an accounting degree, yet in reality, only had an accounting degree. These ramifications of the deception were caused because the board did not fully check his background when they hired, perhaps out of anxiety and stress. He voluntarily stepped down as CEO in May.

4) Discuss the issue of illegal software copying and “cracked copies” downloaded without payment to the software development company. Even on top of that, it breaks moral/ethical code as a consumer. in the New York Times article, Charles Farnham, a software writer, copied his friends’ software instead of buying it, arguing that he did it to decide “whether a program is really worth 500 bucks”

5) Think about how this would affect you if you worked long hours developing software. Think about the impact on your software company’s bottom line due to lost sales when illegal copies of your software are made and used. Write a synopsis on your lost income due to software piracy. How does this knowledge change the way you feel about downloading “cracked copies” of software?-If I worked long, hard hours on a software in which was made for consumer use and in turn profits from it, to then realize that my software was being illegally copied and distributed amongst other consumers would threaten my economic standpoint as well as violate my ethical and moral values. of money, and if money is trickling out from a leak in the container, there is money I am losing for no reason and I would not reap the full benefits of the profiting of the software. Also, ethically, it is simply wrong to take something that is not yours and distribute it to others without credit given to the original author. This makes me think twice about downloading “cracked copies” of software because it allows me to empathize with the software developers spending long amounts of time to perfect its product for the use of the consumer in exchange for money.
